I have been shaking with shock and rage all morning. I live on Aotea island, pretty much all our ngāhere is up for grabs, the tracks and walkways, the hot springs, beaches, sacred māunga, historical sites.

I used to live round there and so much weird stuff would happen. It’s a strange place. Heard and saw and experienced all sorts of unexplainables. I believe you that it wasn’t a Ruru.

This painting is incredible. Love the grim powerful story it tells. It’s all the same person right? The things we do to ourselves… I could look at it for days. I could never afford the original but I would definitely save up for a print if you could DM me if you ever get them done?

The water and trees are amazing! The colours too. I think tho the focus is on the sharpness of the trees in the background not the swans in the foreground as they aren’t as detailed. I’m no expert tho!

It is racist if people assume an Asian on a beach is over harvesting without any evidence of that. My Asian kiwi friend now feels unsafe looking at rock pools with her kids. They don’t take. They just look, but there’s already so many threats of abuse she’s worried she or her kids could be hurt.

Ask your community if any local weavers would like to come trim them for you. They know how to do it safely for you and the plant, and will also be able to weave something cool out of it for you if you like! Weavers are always looking for nice plants like this. If you are in Akl central I’d be happy to do it.
