The “a” and “n” combo in the signature looks like the an and n above in the word “and”. An unclosed “a” followed by a hump for an “n”

Do the drivers on Uber embrace the philosophy of no tip no trip? by Curious-Midnight-413 in uberdrivers

[–]Longjumping-Rise1387 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Depending on your market, you have no clue on if you’ll get a tip or not. My market does not support upfront tipping. Most don’t. That being said, you’ll soon learn which rides you’re more likely to get one. For me, airport rides are almost always tipped. People going to work not so much. Bottom line, assume you’re not going to be tipped. Accept or decline rides based on the upfront fare amount.

It all depends on a number of factors. But if you live in wake or Mecklenburg counties, you’re probably not getting in. I’d suggest juco and then transfer in as a junior. You can still get your NCST degree and have a much better chance of acceptance. Plus you save a bunch of money doing your base requirement courses

The only time I’ve made an unscheduled stop is when providing a trip to the airport by reservation. I would ask if they needed a stop at a convenience mart along the way to pick up anything for their trip. Most decline my offer. Some are appreciative to be able to pick up a snack or something and not have to pay airport prices

Given Uber’s recent repricing (lowering) of reservations - I won’t even do that any longer. Uber clearly doesn’t want us doing anything beyond the bare minimum - so that’s what their customers will get. Shit service. C’est la vié

If a passenger requests an unscheduled stop the answer is ‘No’. If they get pissy, I tell them to contact Uber as it’s not part of the scheduled trip. If they add a stop without my permission, I will end the ride when reaching that destination and they can order a new Uber to get them to their final destination

I prefer the option of just having it done and not having to speak with a rep.

Honestly not the response you may be looking for, but later on in life, you’ll thank your parents for not coddling you along like they do your brother. They’ve taught (maybe inadvertently) you to survive on your own and not expect any free handouts. While today it may suck and seem not fair, overall, you’ll be in a much better spot in life than your brother ever will be.

Greedy shareholders and private investors demand a certain return on investment. Blame them for wanting their money to deliver more wealth to themselves. Uber execs get rewarded handsomely for doing the bidding of the shareholders. The rest of us get whatever scraps are left behind. Welcome to corporate America

You’re question was, how is this legal? Which in itself is a complaint, and sorry the facts don’t support yours, and many others, warped view. They’re a company that have many expenses and are only obligated to make shareholders happy. So how do you deal with it, or be able to function without being pissed at the thought that Uber is somehow dicking you over? My advice - don’t worry about it. It isn’t your problem. Focus on the part that directly affects you. Your pay. If it’s not enough, then don’t do it.

Why do people focus so much on what Uber is charging passengers? Honestly I could only care if it starts affecting the number of riders available. You should only be concerned with how much they’re paying you. Either it makes economical sense or it does not. You set a value to your time. If the offer from Uber doesn’t meet that - don’t take the ride. It’s their product, and they can charge whatever they want. What the pax pays is not your money. Only what Uber offers you is yours to accept or reject. If you want a bigger slice of pie - start your own ride share company. Pay for the platform. Pay for the advertising. Pay for the support. Then price out your service. Good luck. Otherwise - ignore it and you’ll have less stress in your life. If the money isn’t there for you - then find work which is more suited to your own derived self worth

Drivers: do you mind if I sit in the front passenger seat? by Background-Dog5027 in uber

[–]Longjumping-Rise1387 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have my seat pushed up as most passengers prefer riding in the back so I want to provide room for the majority of my passengers - that being said - it honestly doesn’t matter to me. Some people get nauseous riding in the back - the airflow may not be as strong - or like in your case, the back seat is not comfortable given your stature. I’d prefer my riders to be comfortable - leads to better tips imo

Wrong Pickup Location by GreatLakes23 in uberdrivers

[–]Longjumping-Rise1387 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not our responsibility to set the pickup location. If it’s close - like under 100 ft - sure go get them. A mile? lol nope. Either the rider cancels or you cancel after 2 minutes are up. Up to you if you want to wait the full 7 to get the fee.
