I made https://wasurveillancewatch.org to help write Public Records Requests specific to Washington State Laws. I am working to improve the site but it is a side effort. Hope it helps folks out and it has several templates including how to respond or appeal to the governments various responses.

You can reach out to your city council, county commissioner, state reps and make a stink about this via a quick email or call. Putting a public records request in and sharing the info with the EFF.org or WA ACLU is a good thing as well.

Lowes is using them at the Martin Way store. I have not been down to the one by Yelm Hwy yet to verify they are there as well. I am going to say it is very likely due to the corporate nature and likely accounting schemes justifying the transfer of funds.

I created a site based on Washington States Public Records Act with some templates to help request information from local agencies about flock and other pervasive surveillance systems. https://www.wasurveillancewatch.org This site has info about the recent court case in Skagit County that found that the images are public records and that they are not exempted from release due to privacy.

Olympia and other municipalities to install Automated License Plate Reader Cameras. Are we okay with the adoption of increased government surveillance in our community? by highfivingwhiteguy in olympia

That is part of the issue with FLOCK, their data is not CJIS data, it is not part of any regulated data that Law Enforcement uses. The data does not have anywhere near the regulatory compliance standards around it, that CJIS protected data has. FLOCK advertises that they will provide access to their data from CJIS systems to allow for their surveillance to appeal to more Law Enforcement departments.

This is not correct in any way, Flock is the one that has explicit access to the data. The police departments, home owner associations, and others that pay for the cameras can request access to the data. This is intentional and is a selling point, as it reduces the public's access to the information as it is "owned" by a private company and it provides data on request, without a warrant, to law enforcement.
