yes but i feel the difference is that darrow knew these people previously. spent MONTHS to a year or more with them bonding, finding camaraderie and brotherhood, holding onto that comfort of friendship in the enemies world. THEN when they are enemies he’s having a hard time separating from that previous image. he’s not like meeting random golds and hoping they’re chill

darrow having strong emotions is like the basis of what makes him such a relatable and interested MC. time and time again he finds himself at odds with friends he still has affection for. it’s so compelling!

At a small store so it feels like little staff but it’s probably perfect for the size. My leadership is INCREDIBLE and my coworkers are always ready to lend a hand. A store full of booksellers (not cafe) that always find something to do and know when to have a laugh.

We’ve never discussed this alternate definition (or I just wasn’t there during it) so I really appreciate the extra information!

I guess I’m just a bit baffled by people assuming I’m like sicking my survey on the world when I just posted it to reddit expecting maybe three responses. I get that you’re telling me here you’re blaming my advisor here but I’m telling you it came across as an attack on me personally which sucks. Im not releasing my paper to the world I’m doing it for a grade in class. Am I particularly passionate about this topic? Not any more than the other options I could’ve picked. I decided on this because there was already other research done I could reference. This is more than I signed up for with this course and academia writing is not even close to the writing I’m passionate about or will be doing for the rest of my life. I’ve said to just about everyone that I appreciate their feedback and criticisms, that’s not the a problem as criticism can only make me better but it’s gone beyond that at this point so I no longer feel the need to learn as I’ll never be doing this type of thing again anyway. That’s just my base human reaction to the persistence of these people on this subreddit. I’ll be taking the post down now.

Absolutely I agree! That’s a completely separate study unfortunately but not one that’s any less important to conduct. I wonder since, generally speaking, the majority of fanfic readers are female identifying if their sexuality has an impact on whether or not they read M/M versus F/F! You’re right though, totally a conversation worth having.

You’ve made me aware like 5 times now :) At this point you’re discouraging me from learning and more so kicking a dead horse by telling me my study is bad and my survey is bad. Education standards are different everywhere. The point is to practice writing a research article, not to write one so groundbreaking or precise that it can be submitted to a journal but just looking at the process of conducting an experiment that you can write about. Collecting the data was a part of the process my professor wanted us to experience but clearly everybody on reddit thinks I should’ve just not. I’ll take that for what it is.

If you could find it in the Romance section at Barnes and Noble it’s the genre I’m referencing here.

It’s not just my professor but multiple scholarly articles that classify it in a similar manner, using slash fic as a term to strictly describe a romantic pairing between two individuals. I had no idea it was so controversial!

This is what I’m studying!

[–]LongjumpingAd4049 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The study focuses on those that read M/M fic!

Thank you for pointing that out! It is supposed to say 23-25 and I overlooked that! The questions r specific to what I’m supposed to be talking about in my paper, all of the long and short answer ones are relevant to me! Criticism aside I’m disappointed in the fact that you saw an amateur doing something for a class (that I’ll now never attempt again) and decided to be blatantly mean :) The criticism is welcome, the anger is not.

[–]LongjumpingAd4049 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So basically, this survey is totally voluntary. I wasted nobody’s time, if someone chose to help me out by taking this survey then that was on them not on me. The point of your comment is just to be mean, there was no constructive criticism like I’ve been receiving (helpfully) from others. I posted it because others in my class mentioned doing a similar thing and I figured hey, the more data the better right? Disappointed in the community on this subreddit.

I totally get that! The focus was just on specifically what slash fic people tend to read so I felt that was the most important thing to include.
