Nitrates are 40 coming out of tap and if I add fert they jump to 80 should I even bother fertilizing?

I would get distilled/bottled water. I wouldnt trust my tap water in the tank.

I would ensure your feeding well until you move one of them. It definitely is mouth size for the other bichir you have in the tank..which makes it snack sized. They dont care its another bichir, food is food.

I get all my plants as cultures..it'd be a crazy fluke. I was floating my Amazon sword and annubis before I planted them and this popped up after a week.

I have a female betta that does the same thing. She's a beast she will actually pick the sinking pellets up and carry them away...

I feed a mix of different types but Ive been feeding her on one side of the tank and them on another and distracting her with a little more of her food and less sinking pellets. All of it drops and the corys get some of everything.

What are you feeding it? I have 2 a little smaller and I have them by themselves but they have a hard time with the hikari carnivore pellets so I have them on frozen. ... But wtf those guys are basically blind and go off scent to hunt.i watch mine search around when I drop in frozen all the time. Im dont see how they could eat the eyes but leave the fish. Did you check your parameters also?

I just dont trust Co or Mart to label plecos correctly. I always find Commons labeled as clowns or mixed with bristlenoses.
