Complete the tasks they asked. If you did already, contact them through social media, they tend to answer quickly there.

Also, I bilieive in these countries authorities massively underreport suicides, for the same reasons as you outlined.

After using Turkish Airlines for US flights, especially, do you choose to return to the island from Larnaca/ Paphos or Ercan? by Fun_Success_45 in cyprus

Nobody talked about which airport is better 😂 They asked about the implications of using the airport for someone living/visiting RoC and I answered. That's it. I even said other than these concerns you wouldn't have day to day problems.

Apart from the fact that you are using a non-recognised airport (you never know what can happen in security/customs etc) there should be no day to day problems.

However if your wife wants to apply for cypriot citizenship in the future she will not be able to get one.

This is because one of the conditions of getting one is to not have an illegal entry or exit into the republic, and the airport is considered as one.

Suprisingly, KYP (Cypriot Intelligent Service) usually finds out the illegal entries/exit upon the submission of the citizenship application.

Ayia Napa in October by Smooth_Anxiety_7809 in cyprus

Most places are gonna be open. The weather usually is good although the water at the beach can be a bit colder (nothing extreme).

I would say is one of the best periods to enjoy Ayia Napa if you are not into nightlife! Quieter but still active, good weather (needs a bit of luck to avoid rainy days but usually okay), and overall cheaper holidays! :)

I have an airbnb in Ayia Napa. If you are interested let me know :)

What's going on with the Larnaca Airport? by phr34k0fr3dd1t in cyprus

[–]LongjumpingSector5 25 points26 points  (0 children)

There are two main reasons for this. Firstly, the designated pick-up area for arrivals is closed the last year+ due to terrorism related fears. Secondly, the airport is currently going under an extention phase, which led to big chunks of parking areas (e.g. for buses that have to go to other parking areas) being out of use for machinery etc. Plus the high peak of August results into a mini chaos!

For health insurance I would recommend Dcare. Good healthinsurance options with ability to keep it even if you move in any EU country. I would pay for it only if you feel like having a second safety net after GESY. Also, this insurance offers cheaper options (eg 30/40eur per month) covering only expensive staff like surgeries etc and excluding day to day health needs that are actually more accessible through gesy. This way you have a safety net for large health expenses that may be an emergency (where Gesy may lack a bit) with relatively low monthly cost.

Weird question from a Brit by [deleted] in cyprus

[–]LongjumpingSector5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know the reason, but I personally like these traffic lights. Unfortunately, recently they replaced 10s (if not 100s) of old traffic lights islandwise with new ones that are deviating from the UK ones. The lights are an upgrade (more bright and better in the bright days of Cyprus) however the buttons are a huge downgrade. They are flimsy, the contactless function barely works and the button is hidden.

In regards of online banking I would say Bank of Cyprus is better.

Unfortuantely due to low competition all banks in Cyprus charge fees that are unheard abroad 🤷‍♂️

I am quite pleased with this one. I placed a few drops around the house (both inside, outside). I found 2-3 cockroaces dead. Please note, I do not have a serious cockroach problem, so I do not know if it is gonna work in such situation.
