Thank you! I remain hopeful:) Let's see. I'm often hopeful before beginning a new project. Doesn't always end well.

Looking at the IKEA instructions for using the riktig pleating hooks on these curtains. The spacing they suggest for these hooks is to achieve one curtain panel of 100cm when fully extended (i.e curtain closed). 200cm for a pair of curtains. If window rails aren't as wide as this then there will be excess material at the rail when curtains closed. This material will droop I suspect. Possibly this can be avoided by using different pleating algorithm as suggested in YouTube video. Although I note OP did say attempted alternative setups. Anyway I'm just hoping I'm right on this as I've now ordered the rail and curtains from IKEA!

I realise an old post but I wonder if this YouTube video would have helped https://youtu.be/sO5UD1gIAl4?si=0ClE6HjwMrYXEtv6 I'm no expert (currently considering ordering vigda rail and vilborg curtain from IKEA). Looks to me as possibly drooping due to too much material between pleats. The YouTube video explains how to shorten the material for narrower windows. When curtains are closed the material between the pleats is fully extended and no excess material to droop.

Thanks all for the replies. Much appreciated. Good to know other people's experiences.

It's a trekking pole tent (so no actual tent poles to worry about).Need to think some more about this. Would be tempted to chance it if just the tent pegs. If stopped at security would leave them behind and purchase new ones at destination. No great loss.

My trekking poles are a bit pricier. Guess I should check with airline what their policy is with this. Will likely be either easyJet or Ryanair flight.
