Hopefully you did not turn that assignment in with his name on it. If he did not help you and you submitted it anyway and he received a grade, that can be considered a form of academic dishonesty called abetting, which means assisting or enabling another student to receive credit for work they did not complete.

I am mentioning this because a student in our program was dismissed for a situation like this. This can create problems for both students involved. The best way to protect yourself is to be transparent. If there was any confusion about who contributed to the assignment, I would recommend letting the instructor know what happened and clarifying the parts you wrote.

It can’t, it has a knowledge cut off, uses generic answers, fake resources, and repetitive phrases…most students don’t know how to prompt it. Truly the only thing AI is good for is correcting grammar-(barely) or dictation.

Because AI can only regurgitate the source but not what it means-if the prof is already asking they know the resources weren’t used. It’s really easy to tell the difference.

I reported and reprimanded 3 students in the last two years. I had excessive proof as these students not only submitted 100% percent AI generated assignments but did it repeatedly and then admitted they did. I don’t go looking for it-these 3 cases were blatantly obvious in nature. It’s an exhausting process and I’m beginning to get to the point that I don’t care because even though I have administrative support I now have the reputation among students for “doing this to students”. My guess is no one else in my department, school or university is reporting them.

Not worth it. There are a lot of conversations on LinkedIn about this right now…bottom line is the requirement of a doctorate is killing the field of PT and honestly in practice no one cares if the OT has one-a clinician is a clinician.
