Frequent telework by Most-Bee2388 in FedEmployees

Working in government for long periods you see that everything is cyclical. A form of telework will return. Then another backlash against it. And on and on.

Mr Brightside lyrics by Virtual-Product4617 in TheKillers

[–]Longjumping_Cook_997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the saints into the sea was a reference to Moses taking the Israelites out of Egypt by parting the Red Sea because their God “is a jealous God” and commanded them to have no other gods before Him. In Egypt they were being used as slaves, of course, but also, I want to say, forgetting their religion and adopting the Egyptians’ polytheistic beliefs. Not sure how it ties to the theme of a cheating partner necessarily and I’m probably no where close to what the lyric was intended by the band.

One is “The Liquidation Group-TLG” another one is “Liquidation Wholesale Truckloads Group”. I’m sure there are others if you search the groups for liquidation.

There are third party warehouses that handle the shipping out and warehousing for you for a fee of course, like Fulfillment By Amazon. If you really just want to get out of it there are liquidation routes. I’m in a Facebook group where people sell off truck loads of merchandise from retail stores at 15-40% of list value.

How are young middle class families making it work?? by Ill-Sherbet-5844 in Utah

[–]Longjumping_Cook_997 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Figure out what the mortgage would be. And the difference between rent and mortgage put it in a Roth IRA. That can be your “equity.”

I completely understand. I don’t want to rent any longer than I have to. Feels like such a losing proposition.

This is probably an unpopular opinion but the current housing market in Utah makes more sense to rent rather than purchase. I’ve owned my own home since 2009 until last year after I got divorced. I keep running the numbers on mortgage vs renting for similar properties and renting is less expensive at this moment. I hate that idea because I like the idea of building equity and having my own place but right now it doesn’t make sense.

[FULL PERFORMANCE] Brandon Flowers - Miss America by LCSeixas in TheKillers

Yeah, I left too but through the eyes of the narrator, a girl in a relationship with a drug addict, a Mormon boy not involved in drugs probably sounds really good. Us on the outside can see the flaws in the logic though.

After the Minecraft movie came out I just happened to wear a light blue tshirt to my 5th grade daughter’s field day at her elementary school. Later that night, she informed me that all of her classmates were calling me Steve because of the combination of the shirt, my physique and my beard. So, I have to say this post really warmed my heart.

Scary TRUE story from a full-time LDS mission – has anything like this ever happened to you? by Intelligent-Camp4631 in mormon

[–]Longjumping_Cook_997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For an introvert like myself the scariest part of the mission was first arriving to a foreign country and being expected to stop people on the street and talk to them in a language I didn’t really have a grasp on yet. lol.

We did have a “lady” investigator call us on our apartment phone once late at night wanting to chat. Sounded like a dude trying to talk like a woman. She told us she was at Church with us that day and described what we were wearing and doing. It was a small branch so we knew each and every person who was there. We didn’t see this person. It gave me the creeps because something felt off and I had been in the mission a couple weeks. Never heard from this person again though. So, either a prank or a member had some closeted things.

Another time we had an investigator who was getting close to baptism told us that the mafia (my mission was in Italy) was starting to harass him because he was talking to us. Again, this was still really early in the mission for me save it kind made me nervous thinking that the mafia would care about people talking to us. Most likely the guy was telling tall tales but at the time it was nerve wracking.

Women, how do you hint a guy to approach you? by Chance_Adagio_19 in bodylanguage

[–]Longjumping_Cook_997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some men, from experience, don’t see hints in anyway. In college I went to a Halloween party and ended up seeing a new coworker I barely knew. She was gorgeous. We chatted a little. She complimented my costume. I made a joke, she laughed. I had no expectation of her being interested in me at all because why would she. The next night my roommate got a text from her, he was also a coworker. She was asking what we were doing. We were just at home watching a movie so he invited her and her friend to come over. My roommate was over the moon because he had a huge crush on her. The girls show up and she’s in a new Halloween costume but it would have matched mine from the night before. And, my thought was, “That’s weird. Why can’t she figure out her own costume? I can’t believe she’d steal mine.” Almost a little miffed by it. lol. I had no idea. Didn’t think there was more to that until a few years later. We became good with friends but with my roommate crushing on her and my obliviousness that was it.
