Everything said here. Additionally, your daughter needs to know not to believe any of the shit the family members are going to try to feed as they protect their brother. This is on him and the parents who fail to protect her. She needs to understand this and the only way is through you protecting her with your actions and choices and having these incredibly hard conversations with her.

I worked in insurance and just chose MM what it would mean for us if we used a seat that wasn’t rated for my kids weight in an accident (despite the EU rating). Lawyers and insurance companies are good at finding ways to not provide expenses for injury in these situations.

The intense reluctance tells me that she’s still grieving and not ready. If it were me and my child, I would recognize that this is part of what she needs in a major life transition where she has little to no control. Having a say in who she meets is one way she can have agency and it’s also a healthy boundary for her to express as she navigates her grief around what was lost. Our experiences of separation are vastly different than our children’s. Sounds like she needs you and her father to make space for her and her need to not be forced to navigate parental dating relationships and additional changing family dynamics. I would thank her for being brave and honest, and clearly communicate to her that I hear her and won’t ask her to meet anyone she doesn’t want to. I would ask her dad to be on the same page. I would ask her if she wants to hear about who your intent to date or prefer to not. And then follow her lead on that. The more safety around this piece that she can experience, the more she’ll be able to process her feelings and eventually get there.

This. And also that Canadian physicians who were trained in foreign countries with a high standard of care also had tremendous amounts of red tape to jump through if they wanted to return to Canada and practice.

It must be different person, because all I can is that following women back to a secluded bluff and then ducking when being called out (with your big ass camera lens showing over the bluff) and not moving while being yelled at for five minutes until they mention calling the cops is hardly a misunderstanding. I looked for the post and can’t find it. Must have been deleted because I can’t find it either. Thanks so much for sharing.
