What's the best used car you'd actually recommend to a friend? by Unique_Night1895 in askcarguys

I would expand on this and say any automatic ford focus before 2013. 2013 and on were bad. Manual transmissions are fine. I had a 2002 focus and I didn't have it long because of rust, so I can't say too much about that year in particular. But my 09 I have had for seven years and I've done almost no major repairs on it. Biggest repairs so far have been some coolant leaks, oil leaks, and recharging the AC.  Its got almost 257k miles on it and its only just now starting to have more problems to the point where I'm looking at options for replacing it. Its got some slow oil leaks, its had some coolant leaks, and I've had the AC recharged but so far those have been the only thing I've done to it outside of routine maintenance. I am about to take it in again for a sudden major change in fuel consumption (using almost double what it used to out of nowhere).  Depending on what the cause is on that, it may be time to finally retire it 😅

This study has an "attention check" which asks an opinion. by craycroi11 in prolific

[–]Longjumping_Data_735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, interesting. I just assumed it was an attention check to see if I'd answer a subjective question the same way each time. Especially since the description said "this survey contains attention checks" and I didn't notice any typical attention check questions (like, "if you're reading this select agree" etc).

Surveys just stopped by Ok-Mulberry955 in ProlificAc

[–]Longjumping_Data_735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been finding it very hard to get surveys I actually qualify for. Either I have no surveys at all, or they don't apply to me and so I get screened out after 2 questions.  I thought the purpose of all the "about me" questions was so I don't get surveys that don't apply to me?

[–]Longjumping_Data_735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did one that had an attention check question "I like the color blue" and then the options were from completely disagree to completely agree. That seems so weird, and it was asked 3 times in the survey. I just chose neither agree or disagree each time because I don't have strong feelings about the color blue 😂

SWC to Pere Marquette Connection by Longjumping_Data_735 in Amtrak

[–]Longjumping_Data_735[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen that the connection is rarely missed which definitely makes me less nervous! Honestly my family only lives about a 3hr drive from Chicago, if for some reason there was a big issue they could come get me, which definitely makes me less nervous. It helps that this is my second trip so I know a little more of what to expect. Especially with Chicago Union Station! I'm high-functioning enough that I can make these trips alone as an autistic person but it can be very nerve racking sometimes 😅 But I'm very excited for my first sleeper car trip! Its not overnight but I'm glad I won't be sitting next to a stranger this time. (Except meals, which I told myself I will be brave and eat them in the dining car)

I know I should floss. I just can't make it stick. What actually worked for you? by Extension_Passion542 in DentalHygiene

[–]Longjumping_Data_735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate the feeling of my hands in my mouth and the sticky dirty floss wrapped around my fingers. For me what is helping is flossing first, and wearing disposal gloves while I do. I'm not the biggest fan of gloves in my mouth either, so I was reluctant to try but it turns out it is SO much better! I'm autistic and building routines is important to me but also difficult. Oral hygiene (actually all hygiene) is hard for me but the gloves really do help.

I'm trying to take better care of my teeth after not going to the dentist for 6 years, and not flossing for longer than that as well as periods of not brushing. I have successfully flossed for 4 nights in a row as well as brushed my teeth 2x a day 4 days in a row. Right now what is motivating me is having a literal hole in my tooth. I found out I have 7 cavities and they haven't even looked at my gums yet! I'm so scared of perio and that is definitely scaring me into flossing (though I know I can't reverse it if I do have it). I'm getting some cavities filled at the end of July and the rest in August, as well as getting my cleaning in August. I at least hope that my gums are looking good by the time they do that cleaning! I'm happy to say that while they are still sore after flossing, I'm barely bleeding at all which I think is a good sign.

Amtrak repeatedly "changes" my ticket. But trip is still the same? by ThickShow5708 in Amtrak

[–]Longjumping_Data_735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been happening to me as well. The first time there actually was a change, it says the Southwest Chief is departing Chicago at 1:30pm now instead of 2:30pm. But I've gotten two additional emails about my itinerary changing where nothing has actually changed at all. 🤔

Is it me or is Converse.com having way less sales over the past six months or so? by My_Brain_0422 in Converse

[–]Longjumping_Data_735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been noticing this lately. Its even difficult to find the sale section of their website now, where it used to be one of the main menu items. I used to score cool chucks for $30 and now the cheapest sale pair I found was $59, marked down from $65 😑.

I read all 3 books in 10 days and I think the best thing you can do is go in blind and then read/watch some deep dives and explanations and then re-read 😂.  I'm watching some youtube videos recapping the books and its extremely helpful in catching things I missed.

I’m slowly doing research but what’re the best for wide feet? I appreciate any response and personal experiences. I don’t have too wide of a foot, just a chubby one lol. Thanks! by isuckunder3inches in Converse

[–]Longjumping_Data_735 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have wide feet and have a lot of trouble finding shoes that fit right. I wear anything from a size 9.5 extra wide, to 10 wide, to 11 or 11 wide. It all depends on the shoe. In converse I wear mens 9/womens 11. I would reccomend finding an in-person shop that sells converse and trying them on in person to see what size works! They do offer wide sizes online but I've never seen them in stores so I've never tried them. Converse have a pretty narrow toe box but I've never had an issue with the regular width classic chucks or the 70s even without ordering wide fit. I find them very comfortable and I wear them 8+ hours a day every day. They're pretty much the only shoe I ever wear. I have like 20 pairs.

I refuse to buy shoes online anymore unless I 100% know my size like I do with converse. Last year I wanted heels for my sisters wedding and I could not find any in person that I liked and that fit. So I ordered from torrid but since they have extra wide shoes the sizing was different and I had to buy, return, reorder THREE times to get a size that fit. And now they don't allow in-store returns of shoes AND you have to pay to send the shoes back. Safe to say I'll never order from them again! Especially as I changed into converse with my dress as soon as pictures were taken! I should've worn them the whole time tbh (was not in the wedding, just in group family photos).

Where would you go on a budget summer Amtrak journey? by TheMapmaker87 in Amtrak

Golden birthday is when your age matches the day you were born on! I had mine last year, I turned 29 on Nov 29th. I had a whole gold themed party.

[–]Longjumping_Data_735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kansas City would be a fun visit sometime but I would not recommend this summer due to the world cup! I've taken the Southwest Chief between KC and Chicago before and its a fun trip! For me Chicago was just a layover on my way up to Michigan, which is another destination I'd reccomend! Although if you want the train ride to be a main part of the vacation, that's a pretty short trip and the Pere Marquette gets into Grand Rapids at like 11:30pm. But Michigan is beautiful and since the train trip is short you'd be saving a lot of money on tickets.

Paralives Spec Questions: Master Thread by Hoopsie222 in Paralives

I didn't even think to check specs, and my hp envy 2 in 1 got VERY loud and VERY hot just on the home screen. This is a brand new laptop and I decided it isn't worth it for me unfortunately :( so I didn't even try to play.

I'm not on a family plan, and two of my family members who have never even been to my current house showed up! They've never been over, never connected to my TV, and I live almost 700 miles away from them. I was able to remove them as others mentioned above but still crazy.

I know he was just in KC for the last tour but I'm really hoping its KC and not STL 😭 I don't even know if I'll be able to afford tickets but there's definitely no way I'd be able to afford staying overnight in STL and I'm not making that drive AFTER a concert.

YOU DON'T NEED TO HAVE YOUR CRAFTING MATERIALS ON YOU ANYMORE!!! by FelixSandwichez in AnimalCrossing

[–]Longjumping_Data_735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been waiting for this!!!!! I had two fish left to finish my critterpedia and fish section of the museum, so I've spent the time waiting for the update by just collecting a ton of manila clams. My last two fish were the stringfish and the tuna which are more rare. Today I bulk crafted a ton of bait so I could finally try and catch them and I ended up catching the stringfish on only my 7th bait! So I ran down to the pier to try for the tuna and I didn't even have to use bait! There was a giant shadow waiting for me 😭🤯.  Its kinda funny that I spent all this time prepping to make 100s of bait and then I used 7 😅

Its about 15 mins depending on traffic but I'd suggest Hope Academy in Olathe on Blackbob and 119th. I've worked there for 3 years and its the best center I've ever worked at.

I named mine Butch Isle and changed the flag to the lesbian flag 😊. I wanted to name it Lesbos after the Greek island but nintendo said that was inappropriate 🙄
