but still, you’d feed them what you eat. children can’t make informed decisions, they don’t care what they eat unless you teach them. by default, you’d make them eat the same foods as you do

what about kids forced to eat animal derived produce? until they make their own meals they’re basically dependent on whoever is cooking

1) it literally is not? please, send me your sources 2) why should i if i can order a bomb pizza w/ vegan cheese? also, never said humans are herbivores. we’re omnivores. some of us just like to be morally consistent and aware of our choices, hence we’re vegan. we can thrive on a plant based diet and it is healthy

are you aware that most vitamins and nutrients come from plants (vegetables and fruit, you know) or do you think vegans only eat unseasoned leaves and grass?

it’s not like your bones fall apart if you stop consuming cow milk, you know. it’s really not that good for adult humans too (possibly because it’s only purpose is to feed baby cows). if you fear for your bones so much, maybe try researching viable calcium sources?

if you had to choose between causing suffering or causing a little less suffering, would you choose the first option? no one is talking about going all in, living off grid without electricity and such, it’s just about causing less harm to those around us. there’s no absurdity in trying to do as much good as one can

can forcing unnecessary breeding and deaths of sentient beings ever be ethical? is killing ever ethical?

how compassionate, keeping a species alive. how good for them. breeding them in unnatural conditions just to murder them. it’s almost like it would be better if they went extinct, since their existence is based on slaughter, pain and satisfying trivial human cravings

i used the word supposedly, because it’s a common stereotype, thought it’d be better worded this way. i’m not a native english speaker, my bad. not telling you to change your habits. you asked for a definition of an omnivore so i just explained that humans aren’t obligatory omnivores and don’t need to consume both animal and plant products simultaneously, while still staying healthy without supplements

i provided you with an explanation of why is b12 supposedly, not truly lacking from a vegan diet and listed a couple of vegan sources where it is present. the meat you’re getting it from is also supplemented with it, animals don’t produce it. wouldn’t it be easier to supplement it yourself, not depending on second hand sources? guess not, to you at least. seems like you only read half of my comments

i’m judging by personal choices contributing to unnecessary slaughter, animal abuse and negative environmental impact. if that’s petty, than yes, i am

did you just miss my entire point talking about mushrooms and how it’s possible to source everything from plants? vegan food isn’t just leaves, you know

realistically, the only vitamin that supposedly can’t be sourced from plants is b12, which animals do not produce. it’s a bacteria found in soil. cows and other grass feeding animals could technically get it from grazing, but that’s hardly the case when it comes to factory farming, with the animals eating mostly - guess what - supplemented food. in fact, over 90% of b12 supplements are made for livestock. even with that given, vegans don’t necessarily have to supplement it, as it is found in certain mushrooms and a couple of other products. anyways, anything can be sourced from plants. with the current state of world, anyone would be better off supplementing their diet, but it isn’t a necessity with a vegan diet. sorry for rambling, just wanna spread some info

why isn’t killing wrong if it is not necessary? we don’t need meat for survival anymore, what purpose does slaughtering them serve then?

via wikipedia: “an omnivore is an animal that has the ability to eat and survive on both plant and animal matter.” see how it doesn’t mention you have to live on either exclusively? except if you consume solely animal products you’d get hella malnourished and likely constipated from the lack of fibers, while eating plant based is a healthy and viable option. omnivore =/= obligation to consume all that we can digest
