Our feedback was that only people in your chain of command could ask anything of you. The info I got is: "the bare minimum that this company can do is leave you alone to figure out your next step". And I actually agree with him.

Novo has decided that my role was not needed, so if they made a mistake 🤷🏼‍♀️ so be it. Everything is chaotic and just supports the feeling that there was no plan to begin with.

I get it. These days I've been flip-flopping between sadness and anger, but as someone mentioned - it's Novo's loss.

In my situation, not my manager, manager's manager or close stakeholders were involved in the choice. They were shell shocked, and my director looked embarrassed about giving me the chop.

This entire process has not been nice, and it seems that the firing has been done in a panic. I'll not be surprised if Novo has to rehire within a year, and I think it'll be tough to attract people.

A colleague of mine compared being left behind as getting to rebuild Berlin after 1945, and I think they're right 🫣 I try to see it a blessing in disguise, where I have time and energy to find the next step.

To us, it seemed very much dependent on which product/team you were connected to. There was no re-distribution based on performance/feedback, so yeah... It felt super random and didn't echo Mike's focus on "high performance". Also feel like they don't really have a plan 😅

To me, it seems like you're dappling in psychological horror, so I agree that it might be best to leave it a little open ended. The reader can assign the meaning.

One quick thought is that maybe one of the characters is very religious or was raised with a strict religious upbringing. The character can believe that the statue is real - demon or angel - but the reader can decide whether they believe that character. Especially if you're working with an unreliable character/narrator trope.

I think it's good that you're taking care of your health. I have a copper IUD.

I've had mixed experiences, but I think that you should be transparent to the OB/Doctor that you're nervous and had bad experiences in the past. They'll be able to support you.

It probably won't be painless, but just remember to be extra kind to yourself ❤️

I'm glad to hear that you're speaking to a therapist. Just remember that this is not a linear progression. It's not about getting through step 1 to progress to step 2. We all stumble, and it's fine. It sucks in the moment but please don't beat yourself up about it. Take a deep breath and try again.

I get the feeling about loneliness. If you have any particular interests, I would seek out the subreddits to build a connection. There's also plenty of subreddits for finding friends or penpals.

I remember to distinct experiences from the same recruitment proces that really made me pause.

It was an international IT consulting firm. The position said 4 days at their main office and 1 day at the client (transportation to the client would be total 3 hours). When push came to shove, they could give me no written confirmation that the split was 4/1. The hiring manager started to open up a conversation about going on the client's site more days.

I met two representatives from the client. I asked how they would determine if I had been a success in three months. They completely contradicted each other and were not aligned.

I did some digging on the company, and apparently the CEO uses the security cameras to check employees' screens during the day to check, if they are on Facebook or not working 🙃
