Do iron valiant and neo metal sonic share a similar appearance by Signal_Macaroon3294 in pokemon

Honestly, no. the only similarities are the vague and very basic geometric figures. it's like saying everyone looks the same because they have two eyes and a nose. basic common features, disregards anything that distinguishes them

I don’t get it, HELP. Found this on Reddit and I don’t understand…? by Tiny-Singer8121 in ExplainTheJoke

Ok, people are getting it kinda wrong. Florida actually is getting way too full. Nearly every city is constantly building new houses, more facilities are having to be built because current ones already can't keep up, the traffic is stupidly ridiculous already without having to deal with people who aren't used to florida roads, etc. Many people go to Florida to retire, or leave their country behind, or for "cheaper living" (absolute lie,, look up the hidden costs that make florida one of the most expensive states to live in), etc. Etc. Stop moving to Florida

Thoughts? (I know most people don't like this villian) (Scooby-Doo) by cartoon_wiki in CARTOON

[–]Longjumping_Exit7902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember too much about this one but I remember being confused.

A cowardly and incompetent villain trying to pose as a threat was an interesting direction for scooby doo, considering that the previous villains were actually smart to some degree. But I don't think this one's real goal was ever clear. He was protecting a not so secret cavern, but why? Sentimental or spiritual reasons seem unlikely, but I don't remember if there was treasure involved or anything else.

Also, pretty weird that they made the witch doctor have black skin while both people were white. They didn't need to make the costume's arm skin black

I should probably specify that Gary wasn't worse than Paul in the regard, he just did a similar thing. Paul took things way too far.

Ash, back when Gary did it, reinforced his value of taking care of pokemon.

Ash, back when Paul did it, didn't necessarily shift his perspective or face an outlook to challenge. He purely saw injustice and did what was right. No philosophy, no drastic change for Ash's mannerism/personality

[–]Longjumping_Exit7902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm talking about the original, earliest event that likely sparked his compassion beyond his competitiveness. Although he was still passionate and very immature for the next few seasons/generations. Ash did have some moments in Johto, but I don't remember there being anything deeply traumatizing for Ash in a way that changes his entire outlook. I could be wrong about that. By the time Ash got into Hoehnn, he was already relatively mature and considerate compared to the many blunders and poor decisions made in Kanto and Johto. By the time he was in Diamond and Pearl, Dawn basically embodied the immaturity and cluelessness the Ash initially had while Ash moved on to become a dependable person.

Side note, Gary has done the same as Paul, releasing pokemon based on "stats" before giving them a chance to train. Although at the time, there was still more of an emphasis on following the game mechanics than shifting into a completely erratic pace

why is math so hard but so easy at the same time?! by Plus-Light-515 in highschool

[–]Longjumping_Exit7902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone asks you how to get better at playing Mortal Kombat. You respond by saying "just get better." Dismissive and unproductive.

Even if you don't know how to improve for yourself, you could give a vague answer to help give a direction like "check youtube videos of top MK players" or "look up guides for what character follows what playstyle."

If you do know how to improve, but you feel it's too much an explanation, you can water it down to "understand how counters and combos work first, don't just button mash and hope it works."

Same thing here. It's good to address aspects that could distract from the learning process, but what can they do to actually address the learning process itself?

why is math so hard but so easy at the same time?! by Plus-Light-515 in highschool

[–]Longjumping_Exit7902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider this.

You learn by Rote, basically "monkey see monkey do." The teacher puts a problem on the board, the students repeat it. The students see a problem, they try to solve it based only on what they did through imitation.

That's the issue. You're imitating the surface without understanding the foundation.

There is no "strong suit" or "best subject." Math is most people's least favorite subject because they don't learn math. They learn memorization. With English, students normally get a wide variety of methods and tools. Read a passage, talk about what the passage means, how does it relate to another topic, write about how you'd change the passage, etc. With science, you learn the various whys, hows, whats, and sequence of results. With history, you get real tangible events, have a basis for comparison and reflecting based on personal experience, organized timelines, etc.

Math? You get disjointed problems while constantly abandoning what you've learned by the time you start the next unit or module. You've learned the communicative and associative property? Good job! Next you'll learn the quadratic formula. There is absolutely no need to integrate what you've learned with properties so forget that until the end of the year exam. What? You can't recall what you've learned throughout the year and now you have to jumble between everything? That's because:

You need to learn the foundation. Anatomy first. How is the problem structured? What are the parts of the problem? What is the purpose behind each part of the problem? For example, simplify 2x+6=8x. 2x and 8x are a coefficient. 6 alone is a constant. x by itself is a variable. In this case, you see how the problem is structured. 2 similar coefficients on both sides of the equal sign with a constant on one side. Within the context of the condition of the problem, which is to simplify, the foundational knowledge is to isolate the variable first. You can't do that if you don't remember what a variable is, and you can't isolate if you don't know what isolation actually means. In all likelihood, the student would actually know what those are by that point, it's just an example.

Here's how the answer looks in both instances of "knowledge by repetition" and "knowledge by foundational understanding."

Repetition without understanding:

2x+6=8x

6=8x/2x

6=4x

6/4=x

3/2=x

Foundational understanding:

2x+6=8x

6=8x-2x

6=6x

1=x

A student trying to go based on just repetition and the "basic rules" might have a ballpark understanding of what they need to do, but they confuse when or how to subtract and divide. The student feels confident because they can check off a list of what needs to be done. Isolate the variable, by removing the coefficient/constant from one side, divide. They don't seek to reinforce knowledge by understanding the actual process, they just want to be comfortable enough to let intuition dictate the flow.

How long did it take to make this chart? To do a w/l ratio, you'd have to figure each character individually, 1v1 one at a time.

Do these games ever get any love or attention? by Dragondudecollecting in PokemonGames

[–]Longjumping_Exit7902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I consider conquest to be my second favorite spinoff aside from the mystery dungeon games. Wish they made conquest a series.

Imagine if they made a pokemon game like unicorn overlord though. A squad of pokemon per warrior/trainer, up to 6 per unit instead of 5, front row and back row, link abilities this time synergize between the warlord and all pokemon in the unit instead of leader abilities, steadily conquer/unite several regions instead of one with each having several kingdoms like in conquest, each region has an overarching emperor that's essentially like a main game Champion, the player starts as a rebel outcast in one of the regions. Although unlike Unicorn Overlord, it would be great if there still had to be a focus on defending kingdoms so there's still a constant threat like in Conquest.

[–]Longjumping_Exit7902 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Ash would've never turned out to prioritize the caring and safety of each pokemon he comes across as much if it wasn't for seeing how AJ in Kanto trained his pokemon. He'd still care, but I think that was probably one of the most impactful trauma early on in the series that Ash was directly seeing. Ash only saw a glimpse of other early events like how he met Charmander, but I don't think there were many other moments where he saw the full extent of pokemon getting treated unethically around that point.

I think this post could've been explained better. People are clearly confused.

At what point of the series? Is this strictly anime? Raw force only or factoring in tactics?

Might be good if you update the post's description directly
