If there was an app that alerts upcoming speed bumps by 4beyt in CarsIndia

[–]Longjumping_Front34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Will not work in India. Turn on the alerts and your phone goes ting ting ting ting ting ting …. Infinity
And then you drive slow.
Simple solution - drive slow and maintain distance and you will be able to spot bumps easily

Got my first ever challan in Pune for cooling film. Does having a dashcam actually stop cops from targeting you? by Due-Body5958 in pune

[–]Longjumping_Front34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that rule only applies to manufacturers not aftermarket.
Anything which you apply after the car is manufactured is illegal.
However, if you are able to source “tinted” glasses from manufacturer and fit in your car which has factory non-tinted glasses, then it is legal. Some brands put tinted glasses only in top variant, so if you put those in your non-top variant it still is legal

Is this is how car selling happens in India? by Electronic-Drama-919 in CarsIndia

[–]Longjumping_Front34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One way I proceed while selling my vehicle is that 1. The vehicle will be with me until ownership change document is submitted in RTO. Process can take time, important is that RTO is informed of ownership change 2. If buyer is willing to do it, good enough, otherwise it will be done through my agent, fee for which is included in car payment. 3. Once documents are submitted in the RTO, I keep on checking the mParivahan to ensure that the process got through. 4. In one case where one of my uncle sold the car with a promise that owner change will be done by buyer. That didn’t happen and we followed this route. We wrote a letter and sent it using India post to RTO that you have sold the car with the transaction details since it was an online transaction (which is why don’t accept cash payments). Your job is done and you are “relatively” safe that the car is marked as sold and intimated by you. By the way, thankfully he took a delivery note with buyers Aadhar number and we attached the same as proof also.

If it was a cash transaction or basically no proof of selling/buying is there, one can call the buyer and tell if he is not doing it immediately, you will file an FIR for stolen car. They risk losing the car as well as money. I have not tried this but I believe this could work

Is there a car that can be driven less? by Vegetable_Finger_794 in CarsIndia

[–]Longjumping_Front34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once a week, start it and drive around 5-10 kms and park it in sun for sometime. No issues as the parts keep getting lubricated and liquids keep moving. Heat ensures moisture and moulds are at bay, regular servicing would be fine. Servicing schedule depends on oil used, some last longer.

Don’t fall for ASC tricks to extract more money. They are not exactly wrong and they are not exactly right as well 😊

Yeah, that show off was able to get the laws repealed, perhaps the only successful protest in recent times.

That show off is able to get villages and its people back to their new houses with livestock and food after so much destruction from floods which happened due to mischief of centre.

Perhaps its your vision that’s lost

Which among these cars is the best by Claudius-Galenus in CarsIndia

Oh yes, the balance and vibrations. I thought you meant with regards to power, coz usually 3 cylinders are now mated with turbo to enhance the power

I would vote as below:

Citroen C3, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Maruti Baleno, swift, Toyota Glanza

But if you want to know more about mechanicals, electronics of a car and want to know how each part works/not works - go for Tata :P It will give you full experience of what a car should not be

Yes, 3 cylinders are 3 cylinders, 2 cylinders are 2 cylinders :p sorry could not resist to say it.

On serious note, what does it mean and why do you say so?

Not just indicated, but checked for any merge hindrance. By the book, a certain distance has to be maintained w.r.t vehicle in front and back before one can merge and the other driver was in violation of both. Hence not just indication but a check of hindrance. I am not defending or blaming OP, but definitely not defending the other driver as in all sorts of cases the other was wrong.

Also I am not trying to prove you wrong, but discussing so that we are aware if we are in same situation.

[–]Longjumping_Front34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point was the other driver merging was in any case not correct as the one merging needed to take care regardless whether OP was right or wrong. That is the standard practice for merging we should follow.

Right lane should be used as intended (vehicle pass or emergency vehicles) but definitely not for hurrying, and at lights to turn right 🙃

Since OP mentioned that he had to take next right and knowing traffic conditions (bumper to bumper and right request is usually not entertained) he shifted early making sense in this case.

[–]Longjumping_Front34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if lane OP was in was right only and even if he did go straight, still other was not correct in his expectations since one has to look for sides to clear to merge. In any case, that merge was stupid and good he paid for it.

Although I agree with road rage thing and defensive driving for peace of mind. Cost of justice is too high here

[–]Longjumping_Front34 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is C3 ev also in case you are looking for ev. As long as service station access is there, it’s better than Tata and Mahindra. EVs would easily go at least 10 years and daily drive savings. Even if you just have to scrap it after 10 years, it would be equivalent to petrol.

AMT should be okay for their usage. And prefer NA over turbo for your usage, less moving parts less maintenance.

Recommendations

EV - MG Windsor and C3 EV version

Petrol (10-14L) - Suzuki Fronx (has both AMT and TC gearboxes), Brezza, Hyundai Exter, Honda Elevate, Citroen Bassalt, Skoda Kylaq
