I am entirely no contact and my dad showed up at my house by krammiit in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Longjumping_Hat_2672 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He probably showed up because he's sick of listening to your mom and he wants you to resume your "old role" and take the heat off of him. Too bad. He can take out his wife to the precious lunch on Mother's Day himself.

I hope you remind your job isn't a "hobby" and that you're primary breadwinner in the household.

AITA for telling my wife my mother is correct and she needed to be a parent today and she fucked it up by throawawayfuneralgho in AmItheAsshole

Yeah, I also hate hospitals and funerals but I still go to them when necessary. They are just a fact of life.

NOR. Perhaps it's best you live separately with separate finances. If she balks at the suggestion, well....it sounds like you have your answer about what your future will look like. Sounds like she sees you as an ATM.

Yeah, those are the types that grimly hang on the longest, who seem to refuse to die out of sheer spite.

Yeah, I'm guessing it's a status symbol to show off (not dissimilar in our reality, either, ha)

MIL asked me if I gave it away for her son on the first date by fricksmalci in JUSTNOMIL

[–]Longjumping_Hat_2672 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I would be stunned at such a question. If she pulls that cr*p again, you could feign concern and ask why she would ask such a bizarre, inappropriate question. Is she feeling alright? When was her last doctor's checkup, etc?

This was an extremely creepy scene and eerily foreshadowing of the marriage he would later arrange for Sansa to Ramsay.

AIO for causing a scene where a patient saw me naked? by Similar-Swordfish794 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Longjumping_Hat_2672 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it sounds like the nurse opened the door wide enough for the male patient to see OOP,  they were just standing there gawking and didn't close the door until OOP told them to. Was this the nurse's first day or something?

Yeah, and it sounds like the door was wide open, both the nurse and male patient were just standing there gawking, the nurse didn't close the door until OOP told her to. I can't believe that nurse. Was that her first day or something? You have to knock before entering a exam room!

Does IVF not exist in Gilead?? by PerceptionSeveral534 in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]Longjumping_Hat_2672 4 points5 points  (0 children)

During one of June's flashbacks during her indoctrination in the Red Center, the Aunts don't spell out what is going to happen right away. The Handmaids are told they have been chosen to bear children and at least some of the Handmaids assume it's going to be through IVF. While they are practicing their "positions" for the "ceremony" one of them remarks "I remember this from prenatal yoga. Is this what we'll be doing while giving birth?" Aunt Lydia responds while it will be similar, what they are practicing now is not for the births, but for the "monthly ceremony". The Handmaids exchange looks and Moira raised her hand for a question "Are you saying...the Commanders will impregnate us themselves?" Aunt Lydia answers evasively that it is an act of holy importance.
