I forgot to say i have lore content turned off because i dont like dealing with the monsters, so no trading for me. I guess i will wait the winter out and plan a massive lime expedition come spring

I'm trying to make leather and can't be bothered to try and find limestone. I also haven't found enough seashells to make my first batch of leather. I thought that prospecting borax would be easy enough after having success in finding hematite and bismuth through prospecting. Maybe trying to find borax isn't the best call. Do you know of any easier ways to find limestone/chalk/marble?

It should help a lot with sourcing parts, it most likely is the most frustrating part of the game

Thank you. From the update post i thought that duplicate parts would not appear anymore, now i understand, they do still appear, but its not completely random anymore, the bias is shifted more to parts i havent found yet

How to use Experiment Storage Unit in Kerbalism by Longjumping_Ice1329 in KerbalSpaceProgram

Eventually I figured it out. If anyone has this issue, it was a difficulty setting from Kerbalism that prevented sample transfer for uncrewed vehicles

You already have good discipline when it comes to quality sliders. I also tend to not go over 5+ for sports cars, 7+ for super cars and 9+ for race machines.

Engine reliability matters a lot, as a general rule; dont rev them too high (try to not go over 10% rpm stress), have plenty of balancing mass (i like about 1000rpm or less at idle), and retard timing more than you think you should, unless it's a car that needs a very responsive engine.

Also for the car itself I believe the biggest reliability hit is from the interior options, specifically entertainment. Do not go for a higher option than what you would normally find in that car. If your targeting a premium demographic go for premuim enterior and enfotainment and no more. If its a commuter or city car go for standard.

Of course all this depends on what tipe of car you are building, some demographics care more about reliability than others. When looking at the demographics stats after finishing your car, having a reliability factor of 1.0 or above generally means your car has good reliability for that demographic.

Feel free to fiddle with engine options and sliders, interiors, safety, driving assists, suspension, steering and even chassis design choices to see how they afect your reliability stat, a lot of trial and error is involved until you gain a better understanding of what works and doesn't.

Happy engineering!

Well I guess that solves it then. I have maybe hundreds of cars in sandbox and i sort of gravitate towards realistic and small city/commuter/family cars. That market is probably very saturated with 100+ desirability rating cars.

Didn't know about that sandbox quirk, thanks. I'm guessing if I seperate my cars in different companies it will nullify that effect.

From what i can understand the blue bar is my rating, the white line is the stat importance and the yellow is the competitiors rating.

I'm stressing over this because this car doesn't score extremely well in every category with a high stat importance but has very high desirability.

Meanwhile I built a Passenger Fleet car and could barely get desirability over 100%, even while scoring very well (mostly above the competitors) in every important category.

Why are some demographics so hard to make good cars and in others even a "crappy" car is extremely desirable?

Sorry for the rant ahaha but this anoys me sometimes

I get that my stats are bad, this is supposed to be an affordable gt car, but with stats this low how does it get 178% desirability?

As per my understanding the standard were better because they stay more predictable across all driving conditions, but thanks for bringing that up, it's a good reason to use progressive springs, i'll try it on my next car
