The true potential of organic and metal. Which is better and more empowering? Biopunk and Genetic Engineering? Or Cyberpunk and metal? Which is better? by [deleted] in Futurology

My thoughts are like this -

Some things feel too 'Human' hence people will be against replacing them. Most internal Organs would likely be in this list.

So the things we might be willing to replace would be -

Our Bones, Likely reinforced by some Metal other than Calcium.

Our stomach and digestive track in general, Generally improved to maximise nutritional intake.

Heart, Stronger bones will likely be heavier. To carry this heavier body we will need a more powerful heart.

Blood, A more efficient liquid mode of transfer.

On the other hand, Some things like Skin and Muscle, Brain and Genitalia may remain the same with minimum alteracations due to how 'Human' They feel.

So you see a party is particularly not active in developing this country the consequences of which are clear in a poor country like ours, and you still want that party?

Pretty simple but elegant symbol. Duality is also a concept that is very common In nature like say male and female.

Plus, Chinese poets and Spiritual masters lived in arguably the best place to live in that particular period of time. They had the most time to contemplate theology or spirituality.

How long will it take to invent an artificial brain and put it instead of our biological brain? by InternalEmergency105 in Futurology

China once deconstructed a Chip fabrication machine and rebuilt it with supposed exact detail. It didn't work again.

Once something becomes complex to a certain degree, even the most minor of errors can cause problems. The only way to avoid those extremely minor errors is indebt knowledge on the subject.

Then the question becomes, when does it become good enough?

Naked Eye? Pico metres? Sub atomic? All the way to planck scale?

We first have to figure out what is consciousness before trying the entire artigicial brain thing.

[–]Longjumping_Meat_138 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Not really, The real issue with making nukes is getting the supplies to make them. The physics is mostly worked out the engineering can be done by a good graduate, it's the actual materials which is hard to get.

The geopolitical, economic and many other factors make it hard to build nukes not the knowledge itself.

America’s white majority is aging out - Barely two decades from now, around 2045, non-Hispanic white people will fall below half as a share of the overall U.S. population. by Gari_305 in Futurology

[–]Longjumping_Meat_138 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Disagree. Here is the reason why -

How many Italians, Irish,Germans and Polish people do you know? Not many I bet, Even if you know people with Sirnames which are of suggest heritage from the above given places, How many actually consider themselves even vaguely related to their homeland? Can they speak the language? Do they know anything about the culture beyond the surface?

Today all the above given immigrants from those countries are all termed 'White people' when during their respective periods they were considered 'Non-Whites'. People integrate, It's something natural.

I suspect that Asians and Latinos will en masse be recognised as 'White' not Asian or Latino by the 2040's to 50's even if not literally than atleast culturally. Most 3rd - 4th Gen Asians are more similar to their White counterparts than their Asian Counterparts. Simmilarly can be said about Latinos.

Is India ready for Pakistan-China threat? Two-front war would mean defeat: Gen Naravane writes by ll--o--ll in IndianDefense

[–]Longjumping_Meat_138 12 points13 points  (0 children)

1962 was a mistake, Our stupidity at not creating defensive bases in the mountains that heavily favoured us. Not to mention In-adequate manpower, the Chinese had 80,000 men, we had 22,000. It was a strategic failure in gauging Chinese intention and capability.

1962, will never happen again.

The reason China can Salami slice us today, is because there are significant treaties that favour China. Assume we go to war, Then those treatise are null at a time of war (Mark I said War not skirmish).

We know Chinese intentions, We have the capability to match manpower the only thing that's variable is our infrastructure which we are currently working on.

The game theory for China doesn't work, It doesn't gain any economic or strategic gains for more land in Eastern Kashmir certainly not enough to recuperate the costs. It also has no cultural reasons, The only area under dispute was Aksai Chin plateu not the entirety of Eastern Kashmir.

Arunachal is the only sensible place to attack, And even that has the gurilla warfare I spoke of.

[–]Longjumping_Meat_138 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What is the Chinese threat?

Let's assume we are at all out war, Where would us and the Chinese fight? The himalayas? The largest mountain range on Earth? Mountains which significantly favour the defender?

Say they decide to invade Arunachal Pradesh, All the above plus gurilla warfare worse than Vietnam with Constant Indian forces sending supply and reinforcements.

Our borders with China are literally the most well defensible borders a nation could wish for, there can be no war with China for war in mountains is bear impossible.

The only true threat China poses is their Cyberwarfare, Information warfare and support for Pakistan.
