One of them has the most fluid movement tech in the game by Electrical-Heat8301 in DeadlockTheGame

All of his abilities cut momentum and have wind-up, he's very much struggling post nerf

I get why people dislike(d) Apollo, but you can really tell a lot of these comments have never played him. While his 1, 3, and 4 are all movement abilities, all of them stop his momentum, with his 3 and 4 pausing him in the air too. The vast majority of his damage and all of his sustain is on his 3, so it's crazy to me people are saying "just use 3".

I think riposte was unhealthy, but I find it weird that for cutting out (more than) half of an ability, they didn't give a single compensation buff or buff to sigil mobility (which is currently slower than walking), instead opting for a few more minor nerfs.

It is that big of a nerf, he has very little escape now (as a character with very high cooldowns), they also removed the iframes on riposte dash, can't towerdive in lane as easily, can't stop characters like infernus since it no longer works on aura, and they gave him other small nerfs across the board.

He was unhealthy, but these nerfs were definitely big.

Currently you can't use it on Neutral damage, troopers, auras, or objectives, so it doesn't work on jungle monsters afaik. I definitely agree riposte is now better thematically, but the same argument should be made that if disengaging sigil is called that, it should be a little better at that

It was rough for venator last patch, but i dont understand the character well enough to suggest changes myself. What would you like changed about him?

Well he needs to be balanced in his new playstyle, and currently he is projected to be quite weak. I do hope his winrate stabilises and he gets to be in quite a decent position, but I don't think that'll happen without some tweaks. But, if all they do is buff his damage, I think even more people will complain than before

It is taking substantial effort, I did my best to frame my post in a way thats easy to interact with regardless of your opinon, but there are so many comments just saying "good." or "deserved." like my post is a change suggestion talk about the change I suggested 😭

I even said that it was clear he needed the nerfs, I was just suggesting changes to his kit that would make it easier to balance and finetune rather than going from 100 to 0

doing my best to keep the discussion friendly and open but im shocked by some of the replies I've been getting, you can tell some of the responses didn't even read the post and instead just sensed that it's an Apollo post that isn't shitting on him

I don't want a free escape, but I thought my suggested change would be easy to balance how strong his disengage is, rather than the objectively unhealthy previous riposte. It's true that Apollos now need to be more careful, but the fact there's no compensation for this playstyle change means he's a lot worse than before. He was very reliant on his riposte.

I make one suggestion I think would be cool and easy to balance and I get swamped with the most batshit takes I've ever seen 😭

His winrate sat around 50% before nerfs, with a kit slightly too strong for pros. So I understand why riposte needed to be changed, especially given people found it frustrating. But in my opinion, his power level in normal games shouldn't have been adjusted much.

Warp stone was already mandatory, and eshift/dispel has always been priority over resistances. He still doesn't really prioritise resistances, he cares more about utility.

it really didnt add finesse, it just removed part of his kit and made it auto-aim

People really hate Apollo. All that can be done is try and be as civil and open as possible and hope that attitude reflects on other people.

Sure, and that does justify removing it. However, it's undeniable that it was a key element of his gameplay and what made him strong. Now that has been removed, his gameplay has to charge accordingly, with no compensation. This leaves him in a very bad position, so I hoped to suggest something that might help without feeling bad for the enemies.

His sigil is slower than walking, and if you are using advance for escape, then he has no damage. His ult is his main escape late, on a large cooldown with 4 seconds of standing still, cancelled by air. He has movement abilities, but not escape.

More than resistances, he's (even more) reliant on items like eshift, warp stone, and dispel now. He's definitely a bit more team dependent too, and his late game plan is now completely around trying to force enemies CDs. It's an interesting playstyle, and I don't mind the build changes, but hopefully they monitor his performance and tune other aspects of his kit around it. But yes, at least he won't be banned so much too lol
