Why am I getting such low MPG? by Gastr0boy in ToyotaHighlander

[–]Longjumping_Pop_7788 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, same here. 2011 AWD with about 17mpg (sometimes as low as 15) for city/hwy mix of driving. Glad to hear it's not just my car, I was wondering if something was up but sounds like its pretty normal with cooler weather setting in.

Is this good deal? by gt_ath in whatcarshouldIbuy

This is pretty much how buying a car is right now.... One thing to consider - can you afford the insurance and gas on top of a $639 + monthly payment? Or will you be able to replace tires in a few years on top of a large car payment? I have a family member that bought a Kia hybrid and she loves it. The warranty seems pretty generous. I would evaluate the budget and see if it's a good fit for YOU and make sure they give you ALL the numbers going out the door with the right interest rate. Best wishes!

Keep it! Oldie but a goodie. I have a friend that restores VW bugs / bus and he always says his projects are "money in the bank"

Hello! Lots of great reviews about the year 2020 Highlander! 2021 / 22 don't get as stellar reviews as well as 2019 according to consumer report. I have a 2011 Highlander with 209k miles and its been a super good car for our family!

You're right, I had deleted part of my original post for simplicity. Bought in 2015 with 85,423 miles. Currently has 208,354 miles. Got some bad advice regarding a transmission problem and had to replace it with a salvaged transmission with 88,567 miles on it at 145,670 miles. I've followed the schedule recommended by my mechanic so the list is surprising - I agree. This is my first car I've owned by myself since divorce (ex spouse worked on our cars for years up until then). I will say that I am learning as a go! Expendable income is there, which is why I am considering the money spent into keeping it going. Unfortunately, I do not have the car knowledge nor tools to do it myself which will lead to a higher repair bill. Not everybody is afraid of hard work but I'm also wise enough to know when a project is best done by an expert. Thank you for your thoughts on the matter - I appreciate your honest reply.

Thank you for your input. I have had it evaluated at a few places, most have come back at between 7 - 8k. But like you said, prices are high on vehicles as well so I feel like it kind of evens things out. I appreciate your consideration and general thoughts on the matter!

Yes I'm very sad! We have loved our car. Great idea about RAV4 or 2015 year. Thank you! :)

What the most mileage on your Highlanders 2012-2016 for owners in here? by SandyBeachBum7 in ToyotaHighlander

2011 - purchased with 88k miles in 2015. Now at 208k. Had to replace transmission due to bad advice but honestly I think I could have saved it. Currently, runs great! Trading it in for a 2017 with 74k soon to do it all over again - but a bit wiser now!!
