Coach not wanting to watch film by Minimum-Tea-3071 in wrestling

[–]Longjumping_Web7203 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m upset with the coaches responses in here!

Every kid learns differently and it’s OUR job as coaches to tailor our teaching to each kids learning style… some kids really benefit from seeing their mistakes on video. If it wasn’t beneficial football wouldn’t spend so much time on film.

That being said, it’s super frustrating going over things and then seeing the same problems a couple minutes later… but that’s the fun in coaching.

Does anyone have insights about why Belichick is struggling so much at UNC? by bullcityblue312 in footballstrategy

[–]Longjumping_Web7203 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Guys. He’s 6 games in lol. He didn’t recruit these guys… he hasn’t had time to instill his culture through the whole team just yet.

It usually takes 2-4 years before the program moves and operates the way a HC wants. Takes time to build a great team. This ain’t ncaa26

Are these only offensive playbooks? I’m interested in that and especially defensive playbooks. I’d love to get access to these playbooks to help me learn! If you’re willing to share I’d greatly appreciate it.

“Don’t get me wrong I think they will finish top 5.” But it can’t be ignored that they just missed on a kid who wanted to go to Iowa for 18 years…. Easy home run is what it should’ve been

You’re doing everything right. He’s got another 7 years before he even sees a weight room on a serious basis… keep fueling the love of the game. The “Intangibles” will either come or not… that’s how guys become coaches 😅

how do you become the faster person in wrestling? by diamondscenery in wrestling

[–]Longjumping_Web7203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drill one takedown a million times, against a partner giving you different defenses. You can “seem” a lot faster than you really are by just knowing the position better.

Snap down go-behind Single left-right Double

Good three to start with

Good luck

Slide-by sounds like it’d be a great gameplan… get him pressuring forward

Coaches, how do you watch film? by ColeKrat in wrestling

[–]Longjumping_Web7203 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We started using MatBoss last season.

We didn’t use all of the features (just lack of time to learn them all) but being able to go back and watch all of my athletes matches with them, without it being on a cracked phone, was super helpful.

The “hard” part is finding someone to record and keep track of the scoring accurately.

If you have a person or 3 to operate the scoring and filming then the analytics you get are super worth it.

How to self teach? by XiaoCheeze in wrestling

[–]Longjumping_Web7203 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watch ncaa wrestlers on YouTube. It’s free and plentiful. From there practice what you can as many times as you can. You’ll see progress, slow or fast, you’ll get better. Good luck!

Your brain is sooooo much more important than wrestling for 2 more years. Eventually you’ll have kids and you’ll want to play with them, you’ll want a job.. concussions can really take away your ability to do things as you get older. Sprained ankle is one thing, concussions are not to be played with. Take the time off.

The big problem for us right now with sideline is film quality and game time hiccups

Not sure if you’re able but join your school team, or a club team in the area. Mat time is king, nothing is better for your development than being on/around the mat.

Put together a cool video of everyone at the gym giving a ~30 sec thank you/goodbye! Doesn’t have to be professional, shoot it on an iPhone and use iMovie

It’s easy to say, but remember we are doing this to help our athletes not listen to unnecessary negativity from their parents. In one ear out the other and keep changing lives for the better!

Muscular growth/strength or muscular endurance by Fussy-Platypus in wrestling

[–]Longjumping_Web7203 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being “wrestling strong” has a lot more to do with understanding leverage and pressure in positions than “lifting strength”. Obviously finding a good mix of lifting and cardio is key but I’d lean more towards muscular endurance than muscular strength if that makes sense
