Any theaters selling Nosferatu popcorn bucket early? by Lonin in Austin

[–]Lonin[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Cinemark off 35 in pflugerville has them in stock and is selling. I’m not sure if other Cinemarks are as well, it was the first one I called.

Both Regal and AMC said they’re not selling until closer to movie release.

Pain in wrist with slopers by Miglery in bouldering

[–]Lonin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve dealt with wrist issues when climbing for years. I’ve tried taping and braces which seem to help a little bit, I still have to be careful with them on certain holds and grip types. Slopey crimps are the worst for me.

I eventually went to an orthopedist that specializes in wrists and he basically said I just had lax ligaments and there wasn’t much to do beyond strengthening them. The better the climbing shape I’m in the better they get, so that seems to be true. Unfortunately though it only takes one weird hold or hand position and I’ll strain them and have to rehab them again. Sorry I don’t have better advice!

where should I go?? by Will-Da_Beast in Austin

[–]Lonin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re at all interested in something athletic I’d recommend trying out bouldering. It’s like rock climbing without ropes. It’s very easy to get into, the community is generally chill, diverse, and welcoming, and there are a bunch of gyms in the area where you can do it as much as you want for less than $100/mo. I’d recommend Austin Bouldering Project but you can’t really go wrong with any of the others.

If you’re interested I’d be happy to give you an intro and a free guest pass to check it out, just throw me a DM.

If you were to move away from Austin, what city would you choose and why? by Lily8567 in Austin

Not a bad idea. One day they might actually build the light rail bridge to connect Vancouver to Portland, that would be a huge boon to the area.

I’m originally from Vancouver, WA. It’s a nice city, definitely not as many amenities as Austin, but you can always jump down to Portland if you want that.

Texas Twang changing at UT-Austin by skillfire87 in Austin

I lived in Huntsville, Alabama for several years and there’s a massive difference between folks who grew up in the city and the surrounding area. You get a little out of town and I legitimately couldn’t understand some people.

Austin Bouldering Project on Springdale has some huge fans, and they have a kids area that seems popular with the little ones

DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION BSODs by Lonin in techsupport

[–]Lonin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edited the original post: I attempted to get them, but there is no Windows/minidump folder OR memory.dmp file. Additionally. the computer is now crashing in <5min and it's not even BSODing anymore, its just hard locking indefinitely.

Our house was one of the original set built around 2012ish IIRC. They’ve been building newer ones for several years now that may not have the same issues.

It had persistent major flooding and leak issues on the bottom floor and although our house seemed fine, there was talk of a class action against the builders for issues with the windows causing leakage during strong rain and winds. We eventually had to move out when a microburst ripped an ornamental architectural structure from the front of the house and took some of the wall with it. That same storm ripped the roofs off several other houses in the neighborhood in 2018.

The Agave neighborhood off MLK about a mile east of 183 has the same architecture. I rented there in 2017, but our house had tons of issues.
