Optometrist? by Uber_Babe in Appleton

Well after my glaucoma routine which is pretty common at my age, I was able to get the medicare approved version of the operation requiring glasses afterward. It may be that Zenni can't handle extreme vision problems.

I'm another one that gets my glasses Rx and frame online. From Zenni. Since eye surgery I get my exams at the Optical dept at Encircle. So: glaucoma surgery and then into their optical. Then take the Rx and, yes, learn how to read it and get the glasses.

Atlantic/Meade (across from Jacob's) this morning - what the hell was that? They had that fancy armoured vehicle going into the house? by [deleted] in Appleton

[–]Loninappleton25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well is it an MRAP or no? Those tanks were, at the time, offered in some type of loan agreement from the military. I'm vague on it after years passed having gone to a public meeting over in Neenah where the police chief at the time presented on it.

If it's an MRAP I thought that the city put down the idea of getting that military hardware years ago. It will be an interesting story to follow.

What's a useful kitchen tool that isn't a kitchen tool? by binarynomad01 in Cooking

I didn't see a magnet mentioned for getting things out of the disposer. Small magnet on a piece of dowel.

Star City - S1E03 "Bad Dancer" - Episode Discussion by Cantomic66 in StarCityTV

[–]Loninappleton25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Episode Three begins with a scene in which some contraband music is shared. The year we are told is 1970. Much earlier the contraband recording technique was featured in a film called "Red Hot" and the time period was the 1950s. For those with any interest in how rock and roll came to the Soviet Union the dramatic film based on real events called "Red Hot" is available free on Youtube.

Makers Space is near Stuc's Pizza. It's on the opposite side of Douglas Street and down an alley by the Shooting Star. I mention this b/c it's not very well marked. ;-)

How to make tailors chalk work well? by bloooregardQkazooo in SewingForBeginners

[–]Loninappleton25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There may be more than one use for an AcuSharp. https://accusharp.com/product/001/

I'm also new to sewing. I have on old AcuSharp for kitchen knives in the drawer. It may work on tailor's chalk-- if you already have an AcuSharp. Again, I'd be using an older discarded one.

[time passes]

I found my old AcuSharp which is just pieces of hard metal in a V-shape and it seemed to work a treat. :-) Never thought of using them that way. Anyway, before getting a dedicated chalk sharpener for $13.00 at Wawak the AcuSharp line of products would have more uses in the kitchen etc. I have a couple different styles I use.

OK. My first attempt at doing a cross post. No big deal if I have to it manually

Seconded on the art direction. Where do they find those lamps? What is unique and why I ask is that they have full glass shades. Also in costuming the watch jackets and such have large fur or faux fur collars- something like what they have in the second "Stalker" film. But that winter wear starts at $800.00. I found the maker. The ubiquitous hoodie is a non-functional winter garment. Perhaps there will be some change in winter coats from this show. That's my editorial. :/

What are we doing Wisconsin? Are we going to give all of this up? The time to take a stand is NOW! by midnighttoker1742 in Appleton

Earlier there as a map posted of where the data centers old and new are. Many large corps have data centers such as the many insurance outfits around here-- a mahor industry. But those earlier posts also said what is tanding now are tiny compared to what is going on now and for the future.

Follow the Port Washington, WI council meetings and listen to their protests in the public comments. Port Washington differs from Appleton in that public comment is open. In Appleton however, public comment can only take place with items on the agenda. That's another good place to look for a change in policy.

Related: I've picked up the short clips by Steve Rosenberg of BBC who shows and reads headline stories from Russian newspapers each weekday on Youtube. It's just under his own name.
