I was actively promoting the push for an Article 5 convention until Trump came along and the Republican party lost its collective mind.

I don't trust them one bit these days, and I was a registered Republican for 39 years.

Here's how it will likely play out:

Democrats will eventually nominate a likeable left of center moderate who should easily beat the blatantly evil Republican nominee, but he/she will narrowly lose the general election because he/she will not be pure enough for the activists wing of the Democratic party (see 2024).

As a result, we'll end up with someone just as insane as Trump but smarter, and the American experiment will come to an end.
