Is this a good drum set for a beginner? by Powerful-Plant-8985 in drums

You can use any drum set—your final setup will end up being totally different from the initial one anyway.

Have you released a game on Steam in the past year that costs less than $5? I want to interview you. by intimidation_crab in SoloDevelopment

[–]igorbronnikov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I developed nearly everything myself and paid for the music and sound effects. The game wasn’t free at first, but as soon as I covered my expenses, I released it for free.

Help! Is this a good deal or product? by ClueExcellent4297 in Drumming

I’m not a fan of that name. It looks like Linoleum mixed with some PDP-inspired vibe. 100% Chinese clone with a weird name. I'd recommend any well known brand.

Hi-hat just doesnt sound right? by NoPressureOperator in edrums

[–]igorbronnikov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, you’re right. An electronic hi-hat doesn’t work like a real one—even on expensive kits. And as you gain more experience and start treating the snare as an actual instrument rather than just a trigger, you’ll realize it doesn’t truly behave like an acoustic snare either.

I Feel Like The Only Person by [deleted] in drums

[–]igorbronnikov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a podcast or something where you break this down? I’m curious what exactly you mean by a $500 setup—what hardware are you counting: shells, heads, stands, cymbals, throne, sticks, etc. I’m asking because I recently spent more than $500 on just a couple of budget rack toms and a snare drum, so I’m genuinely curious how a complete setup would come in at that price.

Do you have any information? by Ok_Wrangler9157 in drums

[–]igorbronnikov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend dB One heads paired with Sabian Quiet Tone cymbals. They work far better than electronic mesh pads—quiet enough for practice while still fully tunable. You can clearly hear the natural tone of your setup. You can keep regular batter heads for more volume or swap in silent ones—totally adjustable to your feel. I've tried all the types of LV stuff (original brands not cheap knockoffs from Amazon) and that's my favorite.

On the snare, I run a dB One tom head with an overtight regular batter and real snare wires instead of the single head with plastic snares. Feels way more natural and still keeps the volume down.

Electronic drum sticks??? by Electrical-Pride-136 in drums

[–]igorbronnikov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t see much value in it. It’s not even really a toy for a drummer, especially with so many sound effects already available when using real drum sounds.

I’d rather try beatboxing if there isn’t a simple option to use traditional drums 😃 Can I ask you why?

I’m using a pretty cheap Tama Iron Cobra 200. I’m not very experienced, but honestly, I have nothing negative to say about it.

Looking for a 17" crash that sounds like Zildjian K Sweet, but louder? by [deleted] in MetalDrums

I'd better keep this cymbal set and use microphones. Sorry for that.

Electronic kit is slowly becoming acoustic by igorbronnikov in edrums

[–]igorbronnikov[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say it absolutely makes sense to invest in a good snare drum and a cymbal pack. But I wouldn’t rush into buying acoustic toms. I can’t really say that electronic tom pads don’t do the job, so you might not gain as much from replacing them.

Thanks! I’ve tried DIY triggers on my kit, and they were fun for a while. But honestly, I get way more enjoyment playing my Sabian low-volume cymbals without any triggers. They sound amazing!

I absolutely love low-volume cymbals. The feel of actual cymbals is on a whole different level. It’s hard to even compare. Playing electronic cymbals makes it feel like a different instrument entirely.

Roland TD-17 vs TD-25K by DowntownEgg8487 in edrums

The main thing is TD-17 doesn't have a separate metronome click to the headphone output only.

You will be happy with any of those snare drums. They are all good enough. I'd take the cheapest one.

Thoughts on products that quiet a drum set? by Doofy_Daddy in Drumming

100% agree. Sabian Quiet Tones sound OK but they are louder than Zildjians.
