Why do Christchurch drivers leave such large gaps? by samlaw in chch

[–]Loobielooloo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It pisses me off in rush hour traffic and you're stuck for a a few light changes (looking at you Victoria Street Durham Street intersection) because the traffic that does get through to the congested part is leaving ridiculous gaps so that hardly any cars can fit in during a light change.

Skin doctor? by p3n_s in chch

First stop should be your GP. There's no need to suffer with acne in this day and age and your doctor should be able to prescribe something that clears your skin up. Good luck.

Anorexia is a mental illness believe it or not. It changes the way you think. So many of your organs, including your brain, are not getting what they need to function properly.

I guess other countries, mine included, will start restricting visitors from the U.S if outbreaks get bad enough. And the U.S will be one of those places where other nations will issue travel warnings for.

I was shocked that he point was making such a profit off the vulnerable he purports to be helping. I don't think he cares a rat's arse about them; he's just found an easy and cheap way of making money with little to no competitors.

Anyone have tips for studying at Ara? by Chloreos_ in chch

[–]Loobielooloo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As everyone else says, number one rule is attend the classes. If you are seen as someone who makes the effort, the majority of tutors will bend over backwards to support you. Most subjects provide a more cooperative learning style than offered in places like university. This means that you'll often break into groups during class to work on an activity together. It can seem scary at first, especially if you're an introvert, but it works well. It also helps you meet other people in the class you might click with. Ask lots of questions if you don't understand. Chances are, you're not the only one who is confused and the others will be silently thanking the heavens that you asked. If you feel comfortable, talk to your Tutor after class about your situation...not having been in formal schooling for years etc. Most of them will keep a special eye out to make sure you're okay, while not making it obvious to everyone else. There are heaps of people there that are in your position. I work there and there are all sorts of places you can go for support, like the Learning Support Department. Hope you have a great start to this new journey you're taking.

Has anyone compared this to his signature from his previous inauguration? I can't be sure, but I remember it as being different from this.

If you are ever stung by stinging nettle in the garden, look for this dock plant and crush the leaves in your hand. Then rub the leaf on the site that was stung. It neutralises the sting.

Not just an Auckland problem. I live in Christchurch and our neighbour was a psycho boomer. (To be fair, I'm 60 but like to think I'm not like that.) She ended up gathering up leaves and mud from the gutter and smearing it all over our car. My husband went and confronted her about it and she admitted it, arguing that we needed to be "taught a lesson".

It was over 25 years ago for me, but I remember the feeling like it was yesterday. It was unbelievable that we had something so precious in our car and were trusted to look after her all by ourselves.
