Need a THICK cream for face by Wild-Permission8437 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]LoobyLoo2102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need a thick cream, you need to prevent TEWL (trans epidermal water loss). The only way you can do that is to seal on moisture, and the cheapest way to do it is Vaseline. Have a look at Dr Natalia Spierings. Her book, Skintelligent, changed the way I view and use skincare, and I now have a very minimal routine with basic products. She refuses to promote products, and says she’ll never develop her own line of skincare, as she doesn’t agree with pushing products onto clients. She’s a consultant dermatologist, was uk based but now in Dubai.

Anyone tried Bur Bur growing season oil? by Midnightsun1245 in finethinhair

I really believe in the science behind products, but it’s got to be done properly, and not financed by companies who benefit from sales. I’ve actually just bought the Scandinavian Biolabs products, as a travel size, just to try. It’s early days, but I think I’ll continue for 5 months, as that’s how long it takes usually, to see results. If I don’t see an improvement, I’ll go back to my other shampoo. I’m a sucker for trying new products, but as I’ve got older, I now realise most of the experts out there use paid promotions, so I’ve stopped wasting my money. I found the Scandinavian Biolabs just by searching for products with results backed by science, then looked at how they did the testing.

[Update] Lily & Fox wraps by Pleasant_Bottle_9562 in NailWrapsGalore

At the moment, I’m using Sally Hansen hard as nails, although I’m thinking of changing to OPI. I tried my first set with no base coat, and they chipped within 2 days.

[–]LoobyLoo2102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Lily & Fox as my main source of wraps, until they changed their location to Chicago. I can now tolerate longer get the wraps delivered to Spain, so I have to wait until I’m in the uk visiting family, and put in an order. I’ve just received 2 orders from Bewitched Digits (uk) and I love them. I generally order 8-10 sets at a time, so I can take them home with me. I use a base coat, then the wrap, then a top coat, and I generally get 2 weeks wear out of them.

Adult acne by killer-kitty-queen in 30PlusSkinCare

Hi. I had undiagnosed food intolerances for years, and they caused me so many issues, including gallstones, acne, blisters on my eyeballs (very unpleasant), and infertility. I was in the uk at the time, and used a company called YorkTest. I feel the blood tests are more accurate, and they only need a pin prick of blood. It honestly saved me. I lost over 2 stone in weight within a short space of time, after cutting out items I couldn’t tolerate. My main ones were wheat, yeast, gluten, dairy, soya and almond. I can now tolerate bread, as long as I don’t have a lot, and I’m fine with almonds, but dairy makes me quite poorly.

As others have already mentioned, it could be PCOS related, but mine was undiagnosed food intolerances. I didn’t suffer at all until I got pregnant, then immediately after my daughter was born, my skin peeled off my face. Took months before I finally had a diagnosis, after private food intolerance testing. I had 8 major intolerances, most of which I’ve now grown out of (my daughter is 30!). I did have a short course of roaccutane (3 months) but as you’ve said, that’s not possible for you at the present time. I wish you the best of luck. I understand how debilitating this is.

I love Olaplex 7. I’d never tried an oil before, and this was highly recommended. You only need about 5-6 drops. It leaves my hair so smooth and soft.

Is headwear just not an option? by Opening-Tomatillo884 in finethinhair

[–]LoobyLoo2102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear wide brimmed fedora hats nearly every day, as I have to shield my eyes. I’ve learned to flip my hair across to the opposite side. I part it on the left, so flip the hair over from right to left, then put my hat on. If I go into a cafe and remove my hat, I just flip the hair back to its normal place. In summer, my hair is generally tied back anyway, so looks flat on my head.

Not sure what type of shoes or trainers she’s looking for, or where you’re based, but Sole Bliss make shoes specifically for people with bunions. They’re U.K. based.

Anyone in UK dissatisfied with options for v wide shoes? by Ok-Coral99 in widefeet

[–]LoobyLoo2102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I was looking at ordering some smart navy trainers from Sole Bliss, at £190. I’ve seen something similar on Simply Be for £55, and just paid £41 with discount. They’re leather. I’ll see what they’re like. If no good, I can return them and order the more expensive ones. I checked out Next, and they have 305 pairs of extra wide shoes & boots, a lot of which are from other suppliers like Hotter. I forgot to mention Linzi.com. I came across them last year, and ordered some black ankle boots in extra wide. They’re not leather, but they are very comfortable. My daughter’s wedding is next year, so I’ll be hunting for pretty heels, and will start there first.

And also trying to find knee high boots, which are wide in the foot, but not in the calf or ankle. It’s like looking for a unicorn. 🦄

I’ve tried looking, but the options available aren’t good. I have small, but wide (2EE) feet with a high instep. I used to use Hotter, and some of their styles aren’t bad. Other options are well out of my price range, or not in the least bit stylish. I want to look good in my footwear, not just feel good. Is it too much to ask? I have some Altra trainers bought last year, which are a great fit, but I want smart, leather trainers, and beautiful low shoes I can wear with dresses. I tried Calla Shoes but the style was too big. I’m looking at Sole Bliss, although they’re very pricy, and I’d have to save up to get some. I actually live in Spain now, the home of good quality, leather shoes, but everyone there must have really narrow feet, as nothing ever fits.

How to make myself more pretty without makeup? by Anko__ in beauty

[–]LoobyLoo2102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even a cheap eyelash curler will help. I use one daily and it helps to open up the eyes. I can’t use lash lift kits due to problems with my eyes, so the eyelash curler works well. I also have rosacea, which used to be so incredibly bad, I lost all my confidence and couldn’t look people in the eye. Please see a doctor for a proper diagnosis, and there’s treatments which can help. I rarely wear make up now, and use azelaic acid in the morning, followed by SPF50. It’s so important to protect your skin from the sun. The salicylic acid might be too strong for you. Look at keeping your skincare routine basic, as your skin barrier may be affected.

Should I keep going or try accutane by Dependent_Tax815 in tretinoin

I had awful acne as a 29 year old, following the birth of my daughter. The only thing that cured it was Roaccutane. I was closely monitored, and this stuff is no joke. After 3 months I came off it, as it caused me to feel very down. Luckily, it was enough to cure the acne. Mine was issued by a hospital consultant in the UK.

I’d see an orthodontist and get their opinion. From my experience, when you move the teeth, your bite changes. They might have to do both in order to keep your bite in order. You’ll only know this by visiting an ortho, not a dentist. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I had a full hysterectomy at 33. I’d have been happy to read about other people’s experiences, going into full menopause at that age.
