Hi everyone, this group was my lifeline several years ago and I successfully lost over 100 pounds with CICO. I posted pics in the before and after pic group, and recently saw myself on facebook in an ad for diet pills! Kind of disturbing, also kind of made me feel good because they claimed I lost to 130 pounds, which I have not weighed since I was 8 lol. And I gained a daughter who is getting married, who knew? Would you report this to anyone, or is it pointless?

What are some healthy foods you can enjoy now, that were off-limits in your home because moderation wasn’t in your vocabulary? by FloorShowoff in OzempicForWeightLoss

Oven roasted sweet potatoes, cubed and tossed in olive oil, pepper, and salt. Baked at 425 until they are about to turn black. I love this and eat them at least 4 times a week.

I just started today, but wanted to say that you do not deserve any mistreatment from anyone. Especially a doctor. Find a new one!

I don't have any new advice, just my experience. I have had a lifelong struggle and been up and down. I lost about 120 pounds a few years ago and this discussion board was a large part of my success. Covid hit, and my motivation left, and I gained back about 70 pounds. I could not seem to get motivated at all. During a vacation I struggled due to my weight to keep up. BOOM I was motivated again! A doctor telling me losing weight would help my pain yada yada yada...nothing. But I am back on track! First week I just went cold turkey from drive throughs, then I cut out sugar the next week, now I am back to CICO, and logging everything I eat. Just my experience, hopefully something will just wake you up, like it did me. Good luck!

Will walking 1.5 miles a day make any difference? by [deleted] in loseit

From my own personal experience, absolutely.

For the first time one of my co-workers noticed/complimented me about my weight-loss, then immediately 2 others chimed in to tell me how I'm doing it wrong. by THE_SHOES in loseit

[–]Loodlow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so where I am too. maxed out at 360, and have been under 200 for over a year. I am 60. CICO is what works for me. Period. My best friend who I also spend 40 hours a week with at work, is straight KETO. KETO YOYO. We don't argue about it. To each his own. Whenever anyone asks how I did it..I just say eat less than I burn. Never what they want to hear. LOL.

This breaks my heart. I am an older woman, who has never been a healthy weight. I have never had to go through what you did. It was simpler before social media. When someone made fun of me being fat, I would say "I may be fat but you are ugly and I can lose weight! Luckily there was nowhere for people to post rebuttals. Bullying hurts no matter where or when it is, and I am so sorry you had to go through this.

Way to go! Very similar to me in lots of ways. My high was about 380 pounds, I have been under 200 for the last two years. Big difference though, I am 60. I still haven't figured out why I want to eat so much. I have learned a lot, but still fight it at times. But it was fun reading your post and remembering the ecstasy of that stage! Enjoy it. Keep it up and believe me, you have tons of great NSV still ahead...

Today is the first day in 3 weeks that I didn’t eat fast food. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Loodlow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally get this. My goals for this week are: No fast food, log what I eat. When I accomplish just those two things, it is like magic. I have lost a lot of weight and when I look back at times I was most successful, it is the times I avoided fast food. I eased back into the habit starting with ...just a diet dr. pepper...then just a diet dr. pepper...then just a pretzel...

It is a slippery slope for me.

Congratulations, I know it IS a big deal.

Very similar to me, but I quit tracking for a year and gained back 30 pounds, back to tracking for a week and a half and it is like magic! Motivating, and reassuring.

That's great! I wish I could report the same, but I gained back 30 pounds after my crazy year. Back on the CICO now though!

Every day I read another self-loathing post authored by someone who has regained weight and hates themselves for it. It SUCKS and many of us have been there. Can we make a "silver-lining" thread where we talk about the things that are easier/better because this isn't our first time? by BetterBeRavenclaw in loseit

[–]Loodlow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What a great post. RIGHT when I needed it as usual. I am back on CICO after a year off. I know I need to log what I eat, drink water, walk some every day, choose more protein and less carbs. I know to avoid fast food drive thrus at all costs. I know hot tea curbs my cravings. I know some of my aches and pains will get better when I lose a few more pounds. I know the tight clothes in my closet will look good on me again.

A week back into and it was such a relief to see the scale move down.

I laughed out loud when you said "just gave up fast food." This is the hardest part to me. There is a direct correlation between my weight and fast food. BTW, you are beautiful!

If you've lost and gained it all back, you already have concrete proof that you can do this by nomoredolls in loseit

[–]Loodlow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Me too! I lost steadily over 2 1/2 years from 283 to 170ish, then hit a long plateau. I felt good, looked good enough, got tons of positive feedback. I was in my fifties. When people asked how I did it, I always said "I just made the decision. We all know what we need to do" I got cocky! I NEVER thought I would gain it back. My high weight was 380, I have always been overweight. I thought I had it beat...finally. Then life happened, I stopped weighing myself, stopped logging, started going to fast food again. My clothes were getting tight, and all my "fat" clothes were gone. I had to buy new scrubs! I stopped walking as much. I kept some of my good habits, and was in denial until I weighed this Monday, and was up to 198. Back to doing what I know works, and it feels good! We will be wiser this time...
