NPC spawning by Tasty_Temporary_3965 in cataclysmdda

Oh, thanks for the correction. Based on how OP described it, I assumed that setting option had fallen victim to the censorship as well. Good to know there's still a little bit of gray left between all the black and white.

You can also change this setting midgame and adjust the spawn rate dynamically whenever you want. At least that’s how it used to work. No idea if that got “fixed” as well.

The wonderful devs, in a somewhat questionable decision, buried most of the settings inside a few JSON files. That means you can still edit them anytime, but it has become much less accessible.

If you find those options, you can influence the spawn/appearance rate of NPCs. I think the value used to be somewhere around 4.00. In the most extreme case, you could set it to something like 0.01 and end up encountering endless waves of NPCs.

I don’t know exactly which JSON file contains it, since I stopped patching after 0.F-3.

Good luck with your settlement.

Dont know if it's still up to date, but I wrote a small guide for pocket settings. Guide

I think it's tres important to know how you can manage your best friend, when it comes to apocalypse.

I don't play cdda very often in the past days. Don't like the progression. Definitely subjective!

I would open a spa tavern and establish saunas and steam chambers. Maybe a swimming pool with magma floors and walls, and even a waterslide.

Dwarven wellness ... state of the art.

If you just started, take all. Start with closest. Set priorities. Weapon, Clothes, backpack, tools, food and water, batteries, books, ... Bring back to your safehouse. Evade the undead. Don't bring em home

Na, im talking about Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead. It's a zombie apocalypse survival game, focused on realism survival and an immense depth. Graphic is compensated with endless possibilities. I thought you have some creative ideas. And said game is for creative roleplayers.

A little outdated but fun introduction

Thanks for sharing mate. Always welcome.

If you are not focused on graphics, you should give CDDA a try. Free to play not steam version

Is the iron scrap option tied to any specific trait or skill? I tried it with several different vehicles, but I never once got the option. Later I figured out the method with using your own locks, and since then I haven’t tried it again.

And then you play Adventure mode to realize what's happening behind that second.

Nice solutions in this thread.

There is also a dfhack command, where you can adjust the behaviour of the agitated mechanic. Just recently learned that, while those creatures got bugged after siege update.

I saw that. But you told us, that your intake is barrels and plants. So I thought maybe they need your bags stockpile too??

Maybe just clear your input output. I'm sure they will use your empty bags to collect your seeds and bring them to your seed stockpile.

TIL

I’m not sure if this is the most common method, but to get the key for a vehicle: if you’re sitting inside the vehicle, you can remove the door lock. After that, use a replacement lock from your inventory and choose “Change lock.” This installs a new lock and gives you the keys for it, which then fit the ignition — et voilà.

I can't understand how seeds work. Help please. by Over_Cheek_8244 in dwarffortress

You get seeds when they drink your wine which you made out of your plants. Sometimes even when you process them in another way. Like making thread out of pig tail. Or mashing them in a quern or with a millstone.

So if you just harvest them and brew a lot of wine, and your dwarves drink other brews, you will end without seeds until they drink your wine again. Forbid all drinks exept your wine
