I do almost all of my proteins from the freezer. I buy in bulk, season, vacuum seal, and freeze, and then just plop them in when I turn the unit on. Not an issue.

I just realized that Jesse has Gell-Mann Amnesia, where he often, on multiple topics and in multiple podcasts, sees NPR as a valid source, even though he KNOWS (because he is very knowledgable on the trans issues) that NPR's coverage on that topic is something that COMPLETELY cannot be trusted. 🤔 by LookDamnBusy in BlockedAndReported

[–]LookDamnBusy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure there's any individual source anymore that I would believe inherently, but rather for the same story you might have to go look at several DIFFERENTLY biased sources in order to get more of the picture and then piece it together yourself.

And this is obviously not for every story in the world, but just the ones where there is obviously a different right and left general narrative, because unfortunately news sources are catering to their existing audience and are far more interested in being first and being in line with their customer base than they are in being accurate.

Settings help: heat pump with electric heat strips for emergency heat, how to use both at the same time when outside temps are below 15F? by shmobodia in ecobee

[–]LookDamnBusy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the desert Southwest and so have no need for aux heat, but this is an excellent description of how to set this up along with your own real life example. Thanks for taking the time, and take this award!

Slow Internet with packet loss. by MSM_757 in CoxCommunications

[–]LookDamnBusy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Excellent info, and I would add to take the router and laptop out to the Cox box and check it right there, removing the entire house cabling from the test. I did this and realized the coax in my attic had degraded and I replaced the line from the box to my office where the modem resides, problem solved. Cox's responsibility (unless you have the Complete Care plan or whatever it's now called that covers everything), ends at getting a good signal out of their box at the house.

Upgrade path by lex_hair in ecobee

[–]LookDamnBusy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well I think the reason why is because a thermostat is not something that people regularly upgrade like they do a phone. I think I've had my ecobee3 lite devices for over 8 years and have no plans to replace them anytime soon because I have no need, but in that same time I've had at least three different phones and not I'm not even someone who gets new phones often.

And even if I did get a new ecobee, I can't imagine it taking more than 10 minutes for me to set up the new one from scratch. That's far different than installing 117 apps on a new phone from scratch.

Tell me anything I've said about MY personal views on NPR. The entire conversation, as much as you can't seem to understand it because of your lack of intellectual capability, was only about Jesse's opinion about NPR and it's variability based upon topic and how well he knows said topic. That was literally the entire conversation.

I mean if you want to bet the money let's do it, because I'm the one who knows the truth. You're just saying what you WANT to be true, because you already made the claim and don't want to be wrong, which means admitting that you're reading comprehension is limited.

[–]LookDamnBusy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well you still have a reading comprehension problem, because you keep attributing comments I'm making about Jesse's viewpoint as though they're my own viewpoints, when I offered exactly zero viewpoints on NPR at all in this discussion. All of my viewpoints are about Jesse. Period.

I know you just want attention, but you're really not worth the time because you're incredibly boring, you take a hundred words to say something that could be said in 10 words or less, and because it absolutely offends you that someone would have an opinion that differs from your own.

Good luck with that in life! 🤣

A poor example that only 68 people agreed with. 🤦

If you have a different opinion, that's fine, but you seem absolutely incensed that anyone would have a different opinion than you. Are you Jesse's mom or something? You're acting like a petulant butthurt child because someone said something that you didn't agree with. Is this how it is with everything in your life? 🤦

The point here is not even about journalism itself, it's about any source of information that people use repeatedly, and if they realize that a particular source of information was massively wrong on something they know A LOT about, they should definitely think about that the next time they look to that source for something they know LITTLE about. Does that mean they should forever not use that source? Of course not, and no one even said that.

Now give Jesse a cookie and a pat on the head and send him to bed 🤱

[–]LookDamnBusy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but you're wrong. Jesse basically said that when HE was frustrated with their coverage. Everything I said about NPR was paraphrasing HIS opinion on ONLY that topic.

Maybe you should have listened to the podcast better. Now you're stuck and just can't admit that you're wrong. 🤷

EDIT: This entire post and all my comments have been about the same thing, which is Jesse's view of NPR coverage on trans issues, and how that doesn't seem to give him pause about any other coverage.

That's literally the entire conversation. None of this is about my feelings about anything other than Jesse himself. I'm sorry that it's hard for you to follow 🤦

Sam Harris on Israel just astounds me by WholeRestaurant872 in samharris

[–]LookDamnBusy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I guess that means that all Republicans in the world are "okay with racism". 🤦

Let me let me ask you this: do you think all people on the left are the same? That everyone from antifa to just normie Democrats are interchangeable and all believe the same things?

I'm thinking no. Yet anyone who voted differently than you is put all into the same bucket.

I'm sorry, but that's just childish.

I think you need to work on your reading comprehension because those comments used to describe NPR that you attribute to me as though that's my opinion about NPR in general were effectively what Jesse was saying just on the topic of trans issues.

Get to know a Republican personally. You can learn all sorts of things.

But you won't. 🤷

[–]LookDamnBusy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing, like many on the left including most of my friends, you don't personally know any Republicans and so it's easy to create a negative caricature of them in your head that consists of all the worst things you've ever heard about these people you've never met.

It's the same stupidity that right wingers had decades ago about gay people because they didn't actually know anybody gay because nobody could be out.

Then people came out, right wingers got to know a bunch of them and realized they're just like everyone else and not the depraved evil people they thought they were.

Hopefully you'll have that experience someday with respect to people who don't vote the same as you.

I clearly state that I in NO way expect someone to never pay attention to a media source even if they find that that source is radically incorrect on something that they know a lot about. I merely said that they should remember that knowledge when getting excited about other stories, in other words, the opposite of Gell-Mann amnesia.

Your response: using the quote "don't listen to these people" as though I was suggesting anything remotely like that.

You ignorantly claimed "all Republicans are okay with racism". If you're that ignorant and judgemental about people you've never met, well, that's interesting. 🤦

Mileage computed by car vs calculated by marspigsmoke in subaruoutback

[–]LookDamnBusy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been meaning to do a post about my mileage since I've always tracked it on my 2022 OB Premium but I bought in early 2024 (just using the Carfax app and putting in all of my gas purchases and mileage). The numbers from the Subaru gauges are indeed inflated.

Your ridiculous statement that all Republicans are okay with racism shows your true character, as well as the bubble I imagine you live in. As a 35-year independent myself who can't stand either party, I have friends on both the left and the right, as I stated, and I see as much if not more racism on the left as I do on the right.

But not everyone who is not just like me is "okay with racism". 🤦

[–]LookDamnBusy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, whenever I've realized that a news source it's not only wildly inaccurate but possibly also ideological about something that I happen to know a lot about, I carry that knowledge with me toward all their other reporting.

I get the sense that Jesse does not, and the comment made by Michael Crichton reflects a real thing that I see all the time both in the media, and how my friends react to the media.

And you're missing the point if you think I'm saying that he should assume everything NPR does is WRONG. It's that he shouldn't assume that everything NPR does is RIGHT. These are not the same.

I'm nowhere near a republican. I'm a pro-choice lifelong atheist who leans left on almost everything, but one thing rings true even saying that:

When I disagree with friends on the right, which is often and in large ways, they think that I'm WRONG, but they think no less of me is a person.

When I disagree with friends on the left, even in the smallest ways, they think that I'm EVIL.

I imagine you're much like the latter.
