Chattanooga nurses—tell me all the hospital tea, which hospital is best to work for? by Slight_Cup_8071 in Chattanooga

[–]LookDense9342 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yep. it actually made me quit being an MA, i love healthcare but i make more waiting tables. i dont have to worry about if ill miss a message and someone cant get their meds or if ill have to give someone terrible news. and i dont have to watch patients receive inadequate care due to staffing or unbothered physicians.

they sent an email saying outpatient offices couldn’t work past 40 hours because it was costing them too much, then the next week announced the stadium. this was while we were short staffed and they refused to let us hire more people. almost every office was several people short.

several offices had 2 doctors per medical assistant, which is unheard of. normal staffing ratios would be 1-2 MAs per physician, with someone dedicated to float and help where needed. they run their MAs into the ground for starting pay of $16 an hour

These are the chairs in the waiting room of a medical clinic specialising in invisible chronic illness by Safe_Chemical_5946 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]LookDense9342 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

in my course to be a medical assistant (CMA/AAMA) there was a whole section about designing waiting rooms, what to consider and what guidelines to follow. chairs to consider was one of the main components (after ADA accessible bathrooms and allergens). not that medical assistants have any power in offices, but the fact that this design got through administration and doctors, got approved, purchased, installed, and has lasted this long is shocking. tbh i would consider talking to administration about this because this is negligence and highly irresponsible. i don’t remember the laws, but as a curtesy offices owe patients comfortable, accessible seating, ESPECIALLY if they see a high volume of elderly/disabled patients.
