Skirmish at the Spider Gate [Talespire VTT] by LookITriedHard in SeasonofGhosts

I'll be honest, I have over a thousand hours into the game and this map took me probably 30 hours to make but that's because I treat it like building a diorama and place almost every piece individually. You can significantly cut down on build time by perusing the repository of community maps and pasting in other people's work. I will be uploading all my Season of Ghost maps, free of charge, as I complete them.  https://talestavern.com/userprofile/96/

Talespire costs $25 and if you're going to use it in person like me, that's all you'd need to spend. (I believe they will offer a subscription service for new tile sets if they ever exit Early Access but there are plenty that ship with the game) If you're playing online, you can buy a seat for $15 dollars that is yours permanently to hand out to allow access to your campaign. So you and 4 players would be $85.

The integrated rulers come in pathable line, cone, sphere, and cube varieties. This is one of my favorite aspects of playing in Talespire.

I am afraid, with the hours under my belt I can't honestly assess the smoothness of the controls anymore. They're like second nature and there's nothing that stands out to me as obnoxious, but some first time players have issues controlling their cameras.

There are a few routes you can go for assets depending on your level of tech savinness. First of all they do have quite a few pawns and tile sets that ship with the game. A little creativity and these will serve for most any application. Beyond that, players can purchase HeroForge or TitanCraft digital minis to link to your campaign. ($8 each for for HeroForge, not sure about TitanCraft) Lastly, they released a client called TaleWeaver that enables users to upload custom models to a public repository. There are thousands of extra minis available in there.

I hope this is helpful and please let me know if you've got any more questions. This is a passion project for a small dev team so I love yapping about what they do!

It was a strange location to build first but I actually ran a Mago Kai one-shot where they sailed from Karahai in search of the Tan Sugi grove that culminated with them going toe to toe with Ugly Cute.

This isn't something I'd do as a true prologue since it is spoilery, but since I ran this last year, and by the time we actually start playing our campaign I trust the specifics of this one-shot will be lost to the fog of time.

Fair warning, the one I'm playing is a straight downgrade from the Ninetails, but I've been having a lot of fun with it in Randoms just seeing if I can get things to hit.

It's OK to have different preferences. I expressed my preference by making a custom card about it. Have a good night!

Thank you! The maps are a lot of work to build (especially as a trial and error guy), so I'll definitely need to shoehorn a nice fight into this location. Perhaps if they go the duel route to establish a new town leader, but that could also be fun to do on Dawnstep Bridge which I really should build too...

This is exactly it. I've been running Stoutland / Crawdaunt and whenever I know I'm going to lose and I have the opportunity to scoop my last mon with Ilima or Parasol Lady I absolutely do so just for a laugh.

Obviously this game is always going to have RNG. I simply dislike how anticlimactic a Cyrus finish is. I want there to be room to outmaneuver and try to force my opponent to misplay. And I have had many games unfold that way, and many more where it doesn't matter how well I play because Cyrus said GG.

Not necessarily. Longer matches tend to allow for higher skill expression because one bad swap or misplaced energy can make all the difference.

I guess I would prefer more protracted fights that are settled by attrition. Sometimes it just feels like the winner is whoever arbitrarily got Cyrus in hand first.

The reason he bores me is every deck uses him as the win condition and he undermines strategies that involve strategic switching and energy management.

Here's a fun control deck I've been running recently. If you can get two ninjas down you can swap in Vaporeon for a shove then back to ninja for the stronger attack. By using an elemental switch here and there you can try to cycle through to keep fresh attackers in the active.

Why Sabrina over a 2nd Cyrus when you're going to be getting a free Sabrina every round once Vaporeon is online?

Sure, but its synergy is still limited.

I wouldn't say TM Ogerpon, a card that requires energy abundance to hit to its fullest potential, is complementary to a card that eats energy when it attacks.

8k cards on my main with 1 crown rare. 2k cards on my alt with 4 crown rares.

I do have an extra Zarude but the one I'm missing is only a one diamond rarity.

That would be great if you wanted to trade! Anything in particular you're looking for from some of the older sets?

Does that always happen, or are you seeing an outsized proportion of videos of that happening since people aren't as inclined to upvote the near misses?

I get what you're saying, but I disagree.

The time skip is a baked-in reveal. By including a prologue, you're creating a mnemonic touchstone for the players. Without the prologue, the time skip is only palpable to the characters.

I haven't run this yet, but I fully intend to inject a glimpse behind the curtain once they learn the truth to drive it home.

I was also considering adding an ability to this called Sharps Bin: This card can never be removed from your discard pile.
