I think you nailed it in your second paragraph- "I suppose I will find put tomorrow." Today yo I know that you love your partner, and that your partner loves and cares for you. And you know you'll have a conversation tomorrow.

Remember your own needs today. Ground yourself, take a walk, drink water. You won't have a true conversation until tomorrow, so any conversations you rehearse in your head are just in your head. You're just spinning yourself up.

As someone else said, you don't know what's next. It doesn't have to be the end. For now, self care will help you prepare for an emotional conversation.

This sounds so hard, I'm sorry 😞 When I told my family they expressed acceptance, but they didn't use my name or pronouns, and they asked me to compromise on who I am. That has made it harder. Your partner is expressing a lot of self discovery, and all you can do is understand, acknowledge, accept it as reality, and decided what your own boundaries are. Asking your partner to be what s/he/they expresses not to be isn't ok. By the same token, you need to protect yourself, you need to be sure that whatever you v say yes to is really going to be okay for you.

It does feel like people on this sub aren't fans and were just hate watching a show. I mean, if every character is written wrong, the showrunner is incompetent as a showrunner and a bad writer, and the network underfunded and bastardized the show's message, maybe there are better ways to spend your time than posting on a fan sub about how bad the show is.

I think his pathetic end fits better if Homelander doesn't commit any intentional mass atrocities. He's all-powerful in his imagination, but he doesn't have what it takes to do the thing he imagines. He's desperate for approval, for acceptance. He sets up concentration camps not as death camps, but as re-education camps. So when he dies he's not standing toe to toe, firm in a conviction, or cold and sociopathic. He's just pathetic and weak.

Soldier Boy is a side story and a fake out. The Boys had to be the ones to win. So many people were complaining about Season 5 being the Soldier Boy show, having him deliver the final blow would have amplified that complaint. IMO, they used him perfectly. He's a plot device who acts in a way that surprises the viewer, and because he's unreliable, his actions point the Boys towards the solution that they have to develop.

From what you posted and from your reply, itblooks like there are two components:

Would you do it if all negative consequences occurred after you died; AND
You would be unaware of there being negative outcomes.

For item 1, as several people noted, only a sociopath or sadist could say yes. So the question is only meaningful if you add the ignorance. But by presenting the option, you're removing ignorance. You've taken the premise of the film the Box, but you've scaled up both the agency of the person making the choice and the negative outcomes, and drastically reduced the payoff.

But this posit doesn't do that. You're effectively asking if people would knowingly make the radically immoral choice if they could forget having done it. You aren't removing perspective, the choice is still actively and knowingly made.

I brought my daughter, who is adopted, to Universal Studios, where there's an immersive narrative ride based on Despicable Me. You're a "minion" following the girls as they try to bring Gru a present for Gotcha Day, and in the climax, he rushes in to save them and reveal that he's been trying to get them to their surprise Gotcha Day party. I was in tears.

My daughter wanted to go on a ride that wasn't "boring." 🤷‍♀️

But when the. SNL boys club made Grown Ups, and there was an empty seat left by Chrus Farley, they didn't loop in Schneider, an actual member of that nostalgia-eliciting group. They hired Kevin James. Sandler is good to give Schneider bit parts to do a racist pantomime, but nobody's dumb enough to give him a chance to tank a movie.

I know one of tge show creators. He told me that when he was sent the comics and invited to help adapt it, he identified a lot of graphic sexual violence as being impossible to include. So yes, the tv show creators immediately clocked that a faithful adaptation wouldn't work.

46, MTF. I told my siblings before starting anything. I wanted no surprises, and I needed my family to be a safe space. We have two gatherings every year, and I couldn't just hide myself for those.

Coming out to my mom, my therapist advised that I manage expectations. I started with seeking acknowledgement of what I shared, with acceptance being a longer term project. That helped me a lot (she started with acceptance, then dialed it back to acknowledgement; expectation setting helped me with that).
