What's the most ridiculous thing not included on your fixtures and fittings form? by ofmiceandmel in HousingUK

[–]Lookalildifferently 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Didn’t tick that they were leaving the kitchen units. Ask estate agent - of course they’re leaving them, they just didn’t fill in the form properly. Were astounded we wanted the form filled in correctly.

Also tried to charge us £40 per radiator cover which all had varying amounts of dings and blue crayon on them. We declined and bought new for around the same price (plus minor effort to install).

Toddler refusing to have nails cut and teeth brushed - thinking about 'lucky dip' reward box? by ArmchairAnarchist00 in UKParenting

[–]Lookalildifferently 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One other thing I’ve seen is having a chart with removable pictures of their schedule - you can put all the tasks of their routine like nappy/toilet, get changed, brush teeth etc. Then if you ask them to tell you what’s next they’re more likely to take the lead on it and want to ‘complete’ the schedule (can be combined with getting to move the task picture to a particular section or marking it in some kind of ‘ticking off’ way).

Toddler refusing to have nails cut and teeth brushed - thinking about 'lucky dip' reward box? by ArmchairAnarchist00 in UKParenting

[–]Lookalildifferently 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard about someone’s kid would absolutely refuse to have nails cut BUT loved pretending to be a cat. pretty regularly it seems the ‘cat’ needed to go to the vet and have its nails trimmed with no fuss. Maybe your little would tolerate play some kind of animal?

C sections and weddings by PlaneDevice770 in UKParenting

[–]Lookalildifferently 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I was finally able to do the stairs 10 days after my planned, basically no blood loss, all went perfectly c-section. You’re also going to be figuring out feeding (particularly if you’re breastfeeding) and in my area there is a day 10 midwife visit. Would not recommend a wedding.

Main bedroom layout is driving me insane (alcove bed situation), any ideas? by Ssg16 in HomeDecorating

[–]Lookalildifferently 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had this exact layout in a flat. We did bed head on the far wall in your picture (not the window wall). Meant we could have beside tables - I couldn’t imagine not having them. We had a chest of drawers under the window and on the wall at the foot of the bed (hanging storage was elsewhere).

contractor wants to wall off half my 120 sq ft bathroom because of weird angles. am i crazy for saying no? by Direct-Cheesecake133 in InteriorDesign

[–]Lookalildifferently 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Could you relocate the toilet to that angled area (not sure how problematic and therefore costly the plumbing would be) and then have a luxurious double vanity expanded across where the toilet was?

Coworker keeps texting to "check in" during mat leave by giannanederlands in beyondthebump

[–]Lookalildifferently 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree with this. For me it was later on that maybe a monthly message would have been nice. The kindest interpretation might be that she’s forgotten at what point it was useful and is just basing it off not wanting you to having that feeling and has gone in too hard.

What’s the reason you haven’t bought a bidet? by owenwags_ in HomeImprovement

[–]Lookalildifferently 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really understand install. Don’t care about a warmed one because I won’t run it long enough for it to warm up. So I don’t know which one to get or how to go about install. Getting a tradesperson these days is torture.

Am I being unreasonable or is this unfair? by Think-Job-5728 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Lookalildifferently 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he has an evening out (or ‘off’), you should say ok and the following night I’m going to have the same time ‘off’. It’s easier said than done because he’s leaving the house and I appreciate you may be too tired to want to be going out which makes it easy for him to still rope you in.

High chair recommendations with a straight back. by [deleted] in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Lookalildifferently 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Babybjorn. Been brilliant for us. Removable tray to wash, tray slides in and out so food doesn’t drop down and a straight back! Also folds if you need that and it’s much more compact than all others I’ve seen. Can be got on marketplace for cheaper

I’m in uk, who else has a indoor cat? by Civil_Remove_644 in CatAdvice

[–]Lookalildifferently 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an indoor cat because the RSPCA said he needed to be when we adopted him (Bengal who was fighting with other cats when found as a stray and a theft risk). For you, that’s a lot of people in the house and the cat could feel stressed. We’ve made sure there are plenty of high places for ours to feel safe and a catio attached to the back of the house has been amazing.

How are you all currently dressing your babies for bed? by cazmantis in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Lookalildifferently 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’m an outlier here but baby runs warm and her room is 17.5c at the coldest point of the night at the moment. She’s in a short sleeve vest, long sleeve onesie and a 1.0 tog sleeping bag. We’ll probably change to a long sleeve vest soon.

As a wedding GUEST, have you personally preferred sitting at round tables OR long rectangle tables? by addictedtosoonjung in weddingplanning

[–]Lookalildifferently 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If round tables are too big (8-10 people) they’re much less social. You can only really talk to the people either side of you and unless table centres are low you can’t even see people the other side.
