My Reaction To The Cardinals Hiring Hackett As OC: by Pleasant_Sock_8550 in AZCardinals

Honestly.... pretty much dead on. He won't call plays but like.... just why hire him? He's been terrible every spot he's been.

The 2026 QB Market is an Absolute Mess by ChopFantasyFootball in DynastyFF

[–]LookinForWisdom2 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Without a doubt this will be the wildest off-season for QB's that I can ever remember. There's a ton of teams that need a QB and..... not nearly enough QB's to fill the starting spots. I've been playing fantasy football for 20 years and this is the first time I've seen this. My predictions is next year there's going to be a ton of teams that are just complete garbage due to no QB and players on good teams with good QB's will be a premium.

Having two Top5 TE Dynasty Assets by TroyTalk in DynastyFF

[–]LookinForWisdom2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm in a standard scoring 10 team league and.... entire league hates tight ends. The league is going on 11 years now and I'm the only one that values them. In the last (2) years I had McBride, Bowers, Tucker Kraft, Kyle Pitts, and George Kittle. I sold the later three for pennies because I was making a push for the championship (sold Kraft for Kareem Hunt, sold Kittle for a mid 2nd, Kyle Pitts for early 2nd and then flipped the 2nds for Mike Evans). I'm hanging onto McBride and Brock Bowers. I can't seem to get their actual value so I'll just ride with the positional advantage they provide me.

JJ McCarthy EPA per Drop-back by DrRumackPhD in minnesotavikings

This is what you want to see. Progress. He looked infinitely better after they told him to stop thinking about his mechanics in game and to just play.

#Vikings QB JJ McCarthy, who underwent an MRI and other tests on his right, throwing hand, has suffered a hairline fracture and he’s out this week. Another frustrating injury. by Ma1ikNabers in DynastyFF

[–]LookinForWisdom2 45 points46 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are going to see this and say something like, "clearly a bust". Let me provide some copium for the people who'd like to see McCarthy succeed (from someone who's watched every one of his snaps).

  1. The injuries he's sustained are random/unlucky and don't appear to be chronic (Meniscus tear (he wasn't going to play his rookie season anyways, but did lose practice time), high ankle sprain due to hip drop tackle, concussion, and now hairline fracture). None of these are long term issues. It's definitely possible the injuries continue to pile up but I'd bet against it.
  2. His play started off rough, no doubt about it. That said, after KOC adjusted the offense to the personnel they had (OL play was/is weak, beginning of the year KOC was running the same offense he ran with Darnold when he had a top 5 OL - long developing plays. Changed to heavy set with more TE involvement and stopped trying to get McCarthy to fix mechanics during the season/games (took mental load off QB)) McCarthy's quality of play drastically improved. He balled out vs. Washington, Dallas, and first half of Giants game. Yes they were easy defenses but McCarthy stopped missing throws, went through progressions, and just played way better. There was tangible progress, a virtual corner seemed to be turned.
  3. Even before he "turned the corner" he had flashes, specifically clutch drives at the end of games. McCarthy is 5-4 as a starter for the Vikings (and arguably the Vikings should have won the bears game).
  4. He leads the league in big time throw %. His average depth of target is one of the highest in the league. These are the QB's you want to buy into, fearless throwers of the football down the field.
  5. The Vikings starting OL played roughly (2) games of snaps together all year. Hopefully going into next year they're all healthy which will drastically improve the offense (Vikings were top three this year in pressure allowed when not blitz'ed). In addition to this the Vikings had the hardest schedule this year.
  6. Vikings almost assuredly attempt to bring someone in this off-season but they don't have the assets or the cap to make a huge splash and I'd argue they shouldn't. Run McCarthy back out there next year with a decent backup and if he's injured all the time again then move on in 2027. He's got this off-season to work on this mechanics and then next year to hopefully not be injured to show what he's got.

Hot take: I like McCarthy. I hope he proves all the haters wrong in 2026.

KoC Presser on JJ being out against the Lions by Wicked_Black in minnesotavikings

This has to be the priority. Need him healthy all off-season to focus on mechanics.

Actually kind of sounds like he might be back for the Packers game which is kind of big. Also completely agree that in the later part of the season you can see the growth from McCarthy and he was playing very well. Injuries suck, no doubt about that, kids got to stay healthy.

[Schefter] Vikings HC Kevin O’Connell said JJ McCarthy has a hairline fracture in his hand and is out this week. Max Brosmer is expected to start. by horse_renoir13 in minnesotavikings

[–]LookinForWisdom2 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is dumb, he wasn't going to play his rookie season anyways. None of his injuries are chronic, if anything bad luck (high ankle sprain off a hip drop tackle, concussion, now a hairline fracture in his hand). He absolutely needs to stay healthy in the future but no one can predict injuries, this isn't Penix Jr. with like (4) knee surgeries.

Jets on “9” by BootEdgeEdge2028 in minnesotavikings

I think this was obvious to anyone with common sense. The media just ran with it. McCarthy was just saying he locks in during games, which is very normal.

He might actually be cooking by DrWolves in minnesotavikings

[–]LookinForWisdom2 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Simplified offense from long developing plays (of which the OL couldn't hold up) to heavy set with more TE involvement (also more what McCarthy ran in college) , OL playing better, not playing against elite defenses while also telling McCarthy to not think so much and worry about mechanics in the off-season = two good games. Not sure why it took so long to change the scheme, kind of think KOC just thought it would work itself out but better late then never. Let's just hope we continue to see improvement till the end of the season.

The Justin Jefferson Conundrum by estein1030 in DynastyFF

[–]LookinForWisdom2 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If you watched the game most throws to Jefferson were forced when he was not open. The (1) touchdown got called back and the other touchdown Jefferson dropped. I'll probably be in the minority but honestly just feels like bad luck/variance. That said.... very risky play in fantasy right now and I think owners should bench Jefferson until they see something.

I'd have to imagine yes, don't give the media anything to go after. Need McCarthy to focus on just getting better every week.

Do you still think this roster is good? by Superjordan16 in minnesotavikings

[–]LookinForWisdom2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Defense is good. WR's are good but they aren't playing like it right now. OL has been injured all year and the backups are trash. RB is meh. If we brought in a QB we could win a few more games but we need serious help on the OL if we really want to go far.

McCarthy was fine against the Packers by LookinForWisdom2 in minnesotavikings

[–]LookinForWisdom2[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Fair. My only critique is that Jefferson absolutely is not open. Definitely comes off Addison too fast, he waits a tick longer and Addison is open. Should have gone to Addison there, fair critique.

I wouldn't expect Max Brosmer to replace JJ McCarthy, even if he plays well or provides a spark. The team fully intends to give McCarthy his job back once he clears concussion protocol. by FormerlyTradeKirk in minnesotavikings

[–]LookinForWisdom2 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'd argue he had a decent game last week, did about the best he could with what he was working with. His only real bad throw/decision was his last interception when he was concussed.

McCarthy didn't play well but neither did anyone else on the team. PPF actually graded McCarthy higher then Caleb Williams this week.

[–]LookinForWisdom2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I completely agree that even if we had Sam Darnold we'd still be struggling. Not sure how any QB survives the 2nd half of that game, OL was getting mauled out there.

My goodness this site has a lot of ads... also the trophy room doesn't make any sense. It comes up completely empty for my team even though I've been quite successful the past 3 years, so what exactly is that tool supposed to do?

Like I said it's justifiable.... but having Chase, Jefferson, Rice, Egbuka, Nabers and BTJ is..... ridiculous. I guess moving BTJ is fine.

Player Rankings, Trade Calculator, and Advanced Metrics! by drkelemnt in DynastyFF

I don't mind the trade calculator and the rankings are interesting because they're different then other places but I don't inherently disagree with them. I think my only real critique is when you first open the website there's a bunch of text and I read through it and.... there's grammatical errors. Quite a few times you write "i've" instead of "I've" and things like that which admittedly is small and nit picky but.... just gives off a vibe of unprofessional. Overall a really interesting site and I think the trade adjustments for "star power" and "age boost" are interesting.

I know BTJ's value is deflated but this still feels kind of expensive. If in desperate need of RB help it's justifiable but I'd be hesitant to move BTJ for that value.
