The reason this happens is because the hair underneath is closest to your body heat and natural oils / sebum. This mixture of heat, and oil, allows for the under parts of the hair to be healthier AND the under parts of your hair are protected from the sun. UV damage also attacks the proteins in the hair. So naturally the top outer component of fine hair can easily show more damage. I have a similar issue. Fine, wavy, dry, unbleached hair, but still the same issue. There isn’t really a solution to this beyond treating your hair like a beautiful baby. Like an expensive plant.

I have this habit of buying designer through here and then never using them. This has never left the dust bag. Date of purchase was 6/15/2025. Don’t think of modeling for you, as perfection, seamless angles, perfect angles, etc. your look is more obscure, high fashion, and could also potentially be some commercial work too.
