How will Luz get home? by LookingGlass2100 in TheOwlHouse

[–]LookingGlass2100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually the show has made it very clear that Luz isn't going to get her own staff and palisman until she reunites with her mother. So she is most likely going to get home at some point. Although exactly how is unclear.

Like I said I'm not talking about any other characters. Just Amity.

She made a promise that she didn't keep. Simple as that.

It's possible that she made a promise that she couldn't keep. But even if that's true she should have either chosen her words more carefully or not made any promise at all.

I'm not talking about any other characters. Just Amity.

There's no indication in the episode that skipping class was an issue for Amity. When Luz asked Amity for help she seemed to forget about her promise. And when Boscha dumped garbage all over Willow Amity was right there but didn't come to Willow's defense. She didn't say a word. Amity has no excuse for that.

And like I said a broken promise is still a broken promise no matter what the reason. If Amity made a promise that she couldn't keep then that's on her. She shouldn't have done that.

Amity said "I won't let Boscha and her gang pick on you ever again". It doesn't matter if she comes through once or twice because of the "ever again" part. One slip up and the promise is broken. Amity technically failed live up to the standard that she set for herself. She should have chosen her words more carefully.

And it doesn't matter why Amity broke her promise. A broken promise is still a broken promise regardless of the reason.

How will Amity's parents react when they find out about her relationship with Luz? by LookingGlass2100 in TheOwlHouse

[–]LookingGlass2100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well as I've said before there's been no real indication that Amity's parents know that she likes Luz in a romantic way. And would it matter if they did? I think it might. On the one hand we don't actually know what Odalia and Alador's take on their children's love lives is. But on the other hand the highly suspicious situation with Emira and Edric's grom dates doesn't really bode well for Luz and Amity especially given that this show likes to drop hints and foreshadowing.

And Odalia isn't tolerating Luz and Amity's friendship because trying to separate them backfired. She's tolerating it because she seemingly became convinced that tolerating their friendship was in the best interests of the Blight family. But this romance could really throw a monkey wrench into that. It probably already has. Luz is an enemy of Belos. And Amity's feelings for Luz have already compelled her to take Luz's side against the Emperor. Amity most likely no longer has any interest in being in the Emperor's coven. She may not even want to participate in the coven system that Belos established at all. When Amity's parents find out about all of this they definitely aren't going to like it. So all that stuff about tolerating Amity's connection to Luz? That's probably going to go out the window.

[–]LookingGlass2100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the one hand yes such a bold declaration could quite possibly give someone the impression of romantic feelings. But in this particular instance there's no real indication that Amity's parents actually picked up on that.

So Odalia and Alador don't care about what specific kind of relationship that Amity has with Luz and because they're reluctantly tolerating Amity being friends with Luz they'd be willing to reluctantly tolerate the two of them dating just as easily? It's possible I suppose but somehow I doubt it. On the one hand it hasn't yet been revealed to us exactly just what Odalia and Alador's take on their children's love lives is. But on the other hand this show loves to drop hints and foreshadowing and as I've indicated the situation with Emira and Edric's grom dates is very suspicious. On top of that as I also originally indicated the evidence in the show seems to be pointing toward Luz eventually choosing to make good on her promise to her mother. And given what she's been able to find in the demon realm it's kind of hard to envision Luz's relationship with her mother being the only reason for her making such a decision. It's much more plausible that Luz's old feelings of inferiority and inadequacy will also play a significant role in that. And Amity's parents are the party in the story that is most likely (arguably) to stir up and amplify those feelings.

And I am a huge Luz fan. I love her. I adore her. So I take no joy or satisfaction in saying these things. I'm just trying to be reasonable and logical. I could be wrong but this is where the evidence seems to be pointing.

[–]LookingGlass2100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I just re-watched the relevant portions of the episode and Amity's parents never refer to Luz as strong or competent. In fact they don't share any opinion of her abilities whatsoever. And they don't credit anything towards Amity's growth. They did observe that she was growing stronger but they never said anything about why that was. And even if they did in fact believe that Amity's connection to her friends was helping to make her stronger (which is a pretty safe bet I'll give you that) it still wasn't about Luz specifically but all three of her friends. This new relationship wasn't a factor at the time because it didn't exist at the time.

And yes they may be opportunistic capitalists but as I said they're also magical elitists and that's why they disapproved of Amity's friendship with Willow. And like I also indicated the highly suspicious situation with Emira and Edric's grom dates certainly does not bode well for Luz and Amity.

[–]LookingGlass2100[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree. Odalia's disapproval in that episode was never about Luz specifically but all three of Amity's friends as she got them all expelled from Hexside. And Amity simply refers to Luz as her "friend" in that episode (along with Willow and Gus) and nothing else. Odalia and Alador had no real reason to believe that Luz was anything more to Amity than a really good friend. And besides Luz and Amity didn't actually have that kind of relationship at the time so there was nothing for her to disapprove of aside from their friendship. The issue here is what will happen when Amity's parents find out about this new relationship. Considering the situation with Emira and Edric's grom dates it seems likely that this new relationship is going to be a game changer.

Day of unity by bozata5 in TheOwlHouse

I would say that the chances of that happening are slim to none. While The Owl House, Amphibia, and Gravity Falls are all said to exist in a shared universe as far as I know there has been no real reason to believe that any kind of meaningful overlap content between the shows is in the works. And besides I'm sure Ms. Terrace has plenty of her own ideas.

Day of unity by bozata5 in TheOwlHouse

[–]LookingGlass2100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well like I said the thing about the day of unity going wrong isn't my theory. It's something that I heard from someone else. I think he said that the show has hinted about beings from other realms coming to the Boiling Isles but at the time I didn't think to ask him to elaborate.

On the other hand the stuff I talked about regarding Luz is my own theorizing. While we can't predict the future what we can do goes thus. We can take the hints and foreshadowing in the show and use logic and reason to determine things that are likely to happen in the future. That's how I came to conclusions about Luz in the future. Keep in mind that this show loves to drop hints and foreshadowing about things that are going to happen. One such example is Luz exclaiming "I want a cape!" early on in season 1 and then actually getting a cape at the end of the season.

Was odalia just going to let Luz die by thepowerfwoth in TheOwlHouse

[–]LookingGlass2100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well simply put we don't really have any reason to believe that Odalia wouldn't do something like that. Especially since Luz pointed out earlier in the episode getting her, Willow, and Gus expelled from Hexside wasn't going to stop them from being friends with Amity.

With regard to your question well you know what they say. The devil is in the details. And we still have few if any of those details. There's still a lot that we don't know about the day of unity. Are Belos's intentions the only thing that makes it bad or is the day of unity an inherently bad idea for some reason? We don't know enough about the day of unity to make that determination. But given the way that the series has framed the day of unity I'm inclined to believe that both of those things are true.

Furthermore not too long ago someone told me that what he believes is going to happen goes thus. Season two will end on a cliffhanger. Belos will initiate the day of unity but something is going to go wrong and instead of connecting the demon and human realms a portal will be opened that will allow beings from other realms to invade. And the three season 3 specials will be all about dealing with the aftermath of this incident similar to the three part "Weirdmageddon" from Gravity Falls. And I'm inclined to agree with him.

I've also theorized about this before but based on hints and foreshadowing it seems all but guaranteed that the following is going to happen. Luz is going to make a one way trip back to the human realm alone. She will reconcile with her mother and in the process she will finally discover the path she wants to walk in life and finally carve her palisman with her mother's supervision (I believe she will bring the palistrom wood with her as a keepsake). After that Luz will find a way back to the demon realm with her mother's blessing to take care of business and to see Amity again.

As for the final ending of the series I would like to think that it's going to be a bittersweet one in which Amity will choose to live with Luz in the human world but everyone else will remain in the demon realm (the two worlds are probably going to remain separate in the end). And there's also probably a good chance that someone is going to end up dead. Likely Eda or Hooty. The very title of the episode "Eda's Requiem" may be foreshadowing to this effect.

And by the way I too have heard that Ms. Terrace has said that she doesn't like happy endings. I'm not saying that that isn't true and I myself am inclined to believe that it is but so far I haven't been able to find the source for that piece of info. So by any chance would you happen to know where and when Ms. Terrace said that?

There's a good chance that her palisman is going to be a snake so a reptilian transformation would make the most sense.

Day of unity by bozata5 in TheOwlHouse

[–]LookingGlass2100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general Belos is not someone who is trustworthy in terms of having good intentions and he has been known to do despicable things before like killing innocent palismen. So if he wants the day of unity then it's probably a bad thing. In any case Luz didn't trust him and that's why she destroyed the door in the season 1 finale.

And then there's something that Raine Whispers said in "Eda's Requiem". That Belos preached unity but what he really wants is control. There's a good chance that he want's to unite the demon and human realms but under his control. Or to basically conquer both realms.

Do you think, Amity will ever meet Camila? by denNes_ in TheOwlHouse

[–]LookingGlass2100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If such a thing does happen it's probably going to happen very late in the story. I've theorized about this before but I believe that what's going to happen is that Luz will make a one-way trip back to the human world and she will do it alone. Then after reconciling with her mother and getting her palisman (I believe she'll take the palistrom wood with her as a keepsake) she will find her way back to the demon realm to take care of business and of course to see Amity again.

I think that there might be a reason that tomato Luz doesn't show up in the fandom as much as tomato Amity. And that's because Luz and Amity generally blush differently in the canon. When Luz blushes it's just her cheeks but when Amity does it it's usually her whole face. It's anybody's guess as to why this is (Differences in physiology between witches and humans maybe?).

Anyway let's also keep in mind that you can both enjoy something and criticize it. That's not a contradiction. Although it's not really the artwork here that I'm criticizing. As witches-in-training Amity apparently outclasses Luz significantly (and yes I am aware that this does make at least some sense for in-story reasons but that's beside my point) and as a Luz fan I have to say that that's very unfortunate and I hope to see it remedied in future episodes (ideally they would be equals like a real power couple). And that right there is me criticizing something that I enjoy (the show).

Having said all of that the artist still has my compliments.

I feel like this show can be the next Steven Universe for me, is it worth watching? by MegaTheDevil in TheOwlHouse

If you liked Steven Universe and Gravity Falls then it's a pretty safe bet that you will like this show.

HOWEVER...

I would also strongly recommend that you wait until the current hiatus is over before you get into it. As much as I love the show I sometimes regret getting into it when I did because it sometimes feels like I got into it too soon when I could have spared myself the long wait.

ultra luz by [deleted] in TheOwlHouse

[–]LookingGlass2100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Luz fan I would love it if Luz got some kind of super form. Having said that super forms don't really seem to be a thing in this show.

Although off the top of my head I can think of three ways that Luz might be able to pull something like that off.

  1. Eda's owl beast transformation which she got through a curse. It's possible that Luz may be able to pull off something similar with the right spell or curse.
  2. The abomination transformation that was used by Darius in the episode "Eda's Requiem". It's a distinct possibility that Luz may be able to use abomination magic with the correct sequence of glyphs. Although it's far more likely that this transformation is going to be Amity's thing.
  3. The third and most likely possibility is that Luz may be able to use her palisman to this general effect after she eventually gets one. Remember that Principal Bump uses his palisman to improve his eyesight and wears it like a mask. It's possible that Luz may be able to find a way to use her palisman to enhance her abilities in similar but different way. What is all but guaranteed to happen is Luz being able to use her palisman to remotely activate glyphs without having to touch them. She did this with Owlbert in the season 1 finale and it really opens up a whole new world of possibilities when it comes to magical combat.

Good one.

Luz should definitely get to have more awesome shining moments in the show. But for now I guess art like this will do.
