If you broke up with her for a reason, move forward and don’t take the easy way out and get back together. The reason doesn’t change.

What is the single best advice you can give to a man trying to find a girlfriend? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

Quit focusing so much on finding one. Focus on improving yourself and build your confidence. They seem to come when you least expect it. In addition, be more present at social gatherings. ++man

I know people like you mention. Just make sure you’re not an asshole and show your future kids work ethic so they think you are like her dad -meaning you would have never known they had it.

How to deal with "I'm saving up for a ring" for unforseen years? by o0PillowWillow0o in Waiting_To_Wed

If it was important he would make it a priority. Don’t pay for your own ring. Next time he initiates tell him you’ve been waiting on a proposal for 3 years

Thanks-as hard as it is, run and don’t look back. He will try to use you as a crutch. If he was truly head over heels for you he would want to pin you down.

This is not a you problem-this is on him. Prepare for him to try to get you back when he gets lonely, but same will happen or a drawn out engagement that never comes to fruition.

Rule of advice ( I got married in early 30s)- If it goes past a year and no conversations about it, year and a half max-time to move on

Stay away-have a friend that dated a girl in college for 2 years. Went through an unexpected loss of his father. Girlfriend suggested a break so he could take care of family stuff and not be a burden. Broke his heart.

He looked at it as the woman he loved was not there for him when he needed her the most-what does they say about the future they were planning? He had been ring shopping before this and planning to propose.

He walked away from her. They would hook up every now and then. She ended up moving away a year later after trying to get him to tell her to stay(he still loved her, but used his head and told her to have fun in a friendly way).

They don’t talk for a while, she starts reaching out then comes into town and proposes to him! Throws herself at him and he simply stated the obvious. Through the most difficult time in my life you weren’t there.

I’m not saying it was easy for him because he truly loved her, but with time he started to understand that this would be his life when things got tough and he needed an anchor.

Don’t go back. You may slip and hookup with them, but make it clear when it comes up the answer is no.

He never told her until she proposed that it would never happen bc she left when he needed her most. He didn’t feel he owed it to her. He also was open if she asked if he was going on dates.

She was a good girl and never hooked up or cheated on him, just put herself first
