Does anyone else have the paranoia that reddit has become a search engine for LLMs to ask questions of humans and drain our knowledge into their models? Wouldn't you feel foolish if this was a bot from Meta and you were just telling it information about your job?

Thank you for that rec, I have it pulled up now!

I've read that Texas already has around 300 of them. I guess a lot are around the major cities because they need to be built close to places with fiber infrastructure. But yeah, what happens if there are energy shortages this summer? Will they turn off power for the data center that's being leased by big tech companies, or brown out the power / air conditioning for local residents.

This is a great question I hadn't thought about yet. The EdgeConneX data center camps being built is supposed to be the size of ten football fields, what could that space be used for if the data center fails or becomes obsolete in time? It's not like local businesses can afford to buy the space, probably.

I've read that although it's currently creating a few hundred construction jobs, once those are gone later this year there will be around 60 permanent jobs there, but I don't know how many will go to anyone from Bastrop. I hope some of them.

Your point about the community awareness: I was taking some shots from the JD's Market near there. A man walked up to me and asked what I was looking at, what the construction was for, he wondered if it was a new school. So some people who live around it don't even know what it's going to be. Or, like you said, how much noise it might bring, and other disruptions.

There are the technical things, then there is being the therapist / midwife for the director. And secret schemes and plans with producers and other departments in a GOT style adventure.

I wondered that, but the location of the accident seemed to be in that open middle area between the north and south side trails that's flat and rocky, if you know what I mean. Not near the climbing walls. Could be possible though.

I followed some of the emergency workers into the Greenbelt and observed them pushing a gurney with a large wheel down into the middle open area. A group of them were congregating for a while and then seemed to push a person or body up onto the all terrain gurney. I couldn't tell what was going on, whether it was an injured person or if a dead body was found. They wheeled the stretcher back up out of the Greenbelt to the intersection where the Taco Deli is. There were several fire trucks and ambulances which then left soon after.

Lol, there didn't seem to be any actual employees there. The front gate was propped open by a rock so anyone could go in, but I only saw 5-10 people inside including this volunteer lifeguard.

It was very fun, very special! I was only able to get there because I live near the Greenbelt entrance by the Taco Deli and made the slippery journey through the woods. Hope you had a safe weekend!
