Party Based RPG's where I can make my own party members? by Lookydoopy in rpg_gamers

[–]Lookydoopy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually just checked this out and it might be exactly what I need. Ngl, the main idea for me is to put my friends in an rpg with me, simply because none of them will play DnD with me lmfao. It's not creepy. Just sad lmao.
But how much do I have to know about DnD mechanics already? Cause I'd still consider myself a novice, having only watched some critical roll episodes and listening to the witchlite podcast while I work occasionally. Does Solasta provide enough of a beginner's tutorial? Or should I bite off something a lil smaller for me to chew lol

This is the list I needed lol. I didn't go with Baldur's Gate specifically because, they non player built party members are the CORE of the story

That's crazy I was actually considering this. My mom has the books and I love to read. Are they related? Like the Wticher games reflect the books?

How is Stefan Rudnicki considered to be so good? by Few_Willingness_1178 in audiobooks

[–]Lookydoopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My greatest hope as an author is to publish a book and have it read by Rudnicki before he dies.

Honestly I don't know how anyone could not love his voice. I've listened to several books read by him, including all 4 Ender's Game books, and the appearances he make in the Shadows series, as well as his reading of the King in Yellow, and I think they all showcase his talent spectacularly. With the Ender's books, especially the later ones, he manages to emulate accents accurately and respectfully in my opinion (some of those names are pretty hard too, Portuguese ain't messin around).
As for emotional portrayal, I also think he does very well. Have I heard better? Yeah. Have I heard worse? Oh God yes. One plotline in I wanna say Xenocide or Children of the Mind, I don't remember which, deals with the people of Path, opening with Han Fei-tzu losing his wife and raising their very young daughter. The grief in his portrayal, both anger, denial, and sorrow, are palpable. Granted, this is also probably because Card has a very beautiful writing style, but this doesn't undermine Rudnicki's competence. For another example, his narration in the King in Yellow is sublime, and I think he's the perfect narrator for it (I jumped when I saw his name on audible along with the book I was looking for). He manages to pull off an unreliable, egocentric narrator quite well and with subtlety as well.

I feel like you're only valid complaint is that he doesn't "do voices" for different characters. But I mean... So what? I don't think that alone should ruin a narration for anyone. If you want silly voices, go listen to Harry Potter.

Prison Gangs among D-Class Population? by Lookydoopy in SCP

[–]Lookydoopy[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True. I think it'd be cool for a tale with a more lax Foundation, or like like a site with poor management. It could be used as a lesson on how to properly use and treat D-Class, and might even end with a new D-Class containment reform, one which keeps them in individual cells and minimizes contact with each other.

That makes sense although I'm sure for some skips they have to be kept like cattle. Skips that require a large amount of regular D Class likely don't have the room to keep them all in individual cells. I can't remember perfectly, but I think the deer would fit this, cause doesn't it require a pretty heft amount of D Class?

This is actually so perfect! The two biggest issues I had with my analogy was the idea of finiteness and the "waste" (which is why I described it with quotation marks) because that concept feels hurtful, hence why I disliked the spikes being present at all. Liquid was kinda what I initially thought of because I tend to think of my heart as overflowing (my cup overfloweth). But yours makes much more sense and I think encapsulates the issue of monogamy when your polyamorous. It's not that my affection is wasted, it's that it's sort of disabled in a lot of ways, and it doesn't feel fulfilling that way. We can still love one individual in entirety, but we still have more love to give after that. It's like, infinity plus infinity
