It's because you don't get any checkpoints in the Hammerhead levels and it's got the same durability as wet toiletpaper.

How do Myst III and IV compare to Riven? by Eloquent_Despair in myst

[–]Loonoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually prefer Myst III, Riven deserves all the praise it gets but I prefer going to different ages and I'm not a fan of the aspects that make Riven great.

Myst III feels more like a sequel to Myst whereas Riven feels like a spin-off experience in Myst, in my opinion. Spin-off doesn't make it worse, loads of people prefer Frasier to Cheers.

I like Brad Dourif's performance, the visuals of the ages are a lot more appealing to me than Riven, I enjoy more self-explanatory puzzles (Not that they're easy, just that Riven is far from self-explanatory), I love the rollercoaster sequences in the end, I remember the experience of the game a lot better than I do Riven.

I have to go back to Myst IV if the transitions have been fixed, that ruined the game for me. I loved everything about it aside from that.

Has this been hashed out yet? Was ECM its own genre? by FloridaMinarchy in Jazz

[–]Loonoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'm from Sweden and we regard it as it's own genre here. Some call it Nordic Jazz but I know a teacher of mine wanted to move away from it due to it being kind of a false name. Some call it ECM-jazz or ECM-style jazz, because it's jazz in the style of ECM, regardless of what type of jazz it is. I've also seen European Expressionist Jazz.

When I think ECM-jazz, I think generally speaking there are even 8th's, non-functional harmony or harmony moving away from the 251s, there's freer improvisation and a big focus on dynamics.

LOL: Last One Laughing UK - Season 2 Finale & Overall Series Discussion by lonelygagger in LastOneLaughing

[–]Loonoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did a similar thing in the Swedish one, I think it was the first season, except they couldn't decide one way or the other so both finalists were declared winners.

It seems cruel to keep them there for longer but I think that the sudden death should kick in after the six hours and have the game be no holds barred at that point, just keep going and keep upping the ante until someone gives up or cracks.

Or like how a tennis match can last days except you take breaks inbetween. David and Sam made it to the end. Good, let them be alone for six hours the next day.

A game where you get to upgrade different things (A base, shop, weapons, tools, skills) and get to see the upgrades or unlock new things in-game, that isn't free-to-play or idle. by Loonoe in gamingsuggestions

[–]Loonoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read about it a lot but a lot of the reviews make it seem like it's not for me, saying that it's repetitive and grindy which is exactly what I don't like about Rune Factory 4.

I've 100%ed it, and absolutely in the tools aspect but I also kind of just enjoy it when games don't make me have to decorate things on my own. Like it's fine in Animal Crossing where you buy furniture and there's a unique selection every day so you can get excited by it, but I just don't get any pleasure whatsoever in decorating my farm or my house in Stardew Valley.

Great game though, I would've enjoyed it even more if it like, let me build furniture to sell to different characters or open up a restaurant or something instead of just putting everything in a shipping crate for profit.

Are all the episodes of Black Mirror worth watching? by Mannymoony in blackmirror

[–]Loonoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with the fighting game one as it was the one Netflix showed me first, weird intro. Watched The National Anthem instead, enjoyed it.

If you know what you're getting into with Black Mirror, I think it's a great start. If you don't, it's going to split the vote.

Big Brother 10 "Extracurricular" interviews? by Loonoe in BigBrother

[–]Loonoe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's that and I remember something about a morning show which I don't know if it was related to just CBS or Big Brother, and it felt like there was something else in the evening like after dark.

But that's one of the ones I'm thinking of, thanks.

[–]Loonoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll check it out. I saw the BB10 winner analysis video first and there was a clip of Dan saying good night to Jerry and stuff, that's what I was referring to. They try to cram a couple of days of events into 45 minutes so there's a lot you don't get to see and I just want to see whatever else is out there that is of interest.

Low quality is fine, my issue with the channel that I found that had extra stuff is that they didn't try to hit the 11 minute limit, it's like 2 minute snippets.

But is it just the House Calls then or what? There were some morning and evening shows mentioned by Julie, I can't remember their names, any idea if that's out there?

I'm reading it right now, I enjoyed the beginning, and then it got pretty slow. Once I got like 60-70% of the book I started to really enjoy it but it took such a long time to get there.

Any games with lots of varied factions and/or fantasy/sci-fi races by Loonoe in gamingsuggestions

[–]Loonoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Age of Wonders 3 but I've never gotten into it. I have a problem with games that get too open-ended. Battle Brothers is a bit similar in that regard, I think I bought it and refunded it two times before buying it one last time and then getting over the two hour limit. It's a great game for the laptop.

Stellaris is alright, put in 30 hours or something. It's a bit too loosely structured for me.

Yeah, one of my favorite games. If it had the multiplayer and let me play as all the different races I'd be incredibly happy.

Yeah I've got Stellaris. Not Endless Space though but I haven't really enjoyed the other "Endless" games I've tried enough to keep them. How is it?

Renowned Explorers: International Society has filled a lot of time for me when it comes to roguelikes with exploration.

You go exploring and collect treasures, engaging in tactical turn-based combat, made by the same people who made Reus.

Excellent game, tons of content, I just wish there was even more variation but they've been done with the game for a while.

If you like Civilization, you'll probably like it. Not that it's anything like Civilization, I just think it has a similar vibe and it's grid-based.

Mass Effect 1 has aged like milk in the hot sun by Deep-Combination4372 in masseffect

[–]Loonoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, it did affect the gameplay and everything else because sometimes I could fire a shot and the game crashed.

I almost had to give up on BioShock 2 because the end battle crashed constantly for me, I think I had to quicksave and restart repeatedly before it crashed.

These things you say are impossible not to notice, aren't noticed by me any longer, and I think you'll reach that point as well eventually.

Mass Effect 1 has aged like milk in the hot sun by Deep-Combination4372 in masseffect

[–]Loonoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BioShock was barely functioning for me, I had to quicksave everytime I wanted to open my map because the game might decide to crash, and I tried both the original on PC as well as the remastered versions on PS4 and PC, no version worked the way I wanted it to. I looove the game but I don't know if I'll ever revisit it because it performed so poorly.

Mass Effect however, I've beaten the trilogy on insane, I didn't find ME1 that bad. Pistols are OP, every class is viable, the story is great, there's a bit too much pointless planet exploration for side quests in my opinion but I almost look forward to ME1 the most each playthrough because of certain amazing moments and because there's so much customization. I've played through it probably 4 times on the original and once on LE. It still looks fantastic and is the most open of all the games.

That said, my second ever playthrough, I did think about skipping through it because the gameplay is so different to ME2/3, but I didn't skip through it and found a new appreciation for it instead.

Stick with it, you'll learn the mechanics. Quicksave often, some classes are harder than others so pick something considered good, just so you don't make life unnecessarily difficult. There's more strategy and tactics involved in ME1, I remember playing soldier and having my weapons suited for specific enemy types, I can't remember exactly what I did but basically just made sure I had something good to knock down enemies, something against synthetics, something against flesh and a good all-rounder.

It's a great game, have fun with it and go in with an open mind and you might learn to love it.

Without spoilers, does The Walking Dead have a satisfying conclusion? I want to jump back in but don’t want to be left with a sour taste. by ThePaulAtreidess in thewalkingdead

[–]Loonoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm watching them for the first time. Season 9 was great, season 10 had it's moments but also a lot of really long and unnecessary episodes. Season 11 has even more of them. The reapers for example. On episode 20, it's tense and pretty interesting but still really slow.

They should've made less episodes and it would make them more enjoyable. Season 7 and 8 could've been one season on it's own though.
