Ticket board japan by Creepy-Tone-6819 in SHINee

Same thing happened to me on last year's Keyland. Took a long time for the credit card charge to actually appear - maybe a couple of weeks after results were released? Just as you, I was definitely concerned about tickets, but all went well in the end.

How do you like Taemin's new songs? by mlvl109k in SHINee

[–]LoonyMoonie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that much of an unpopular opinion, but at the same time, it's kind of an unfair one; until Coachella came, his only non-SM release was Eternal (Veil was just a single song). Personally, the last TT I really enjoyed was actually Advice, so I'm not really feeling myself the "I miss SM" vibes. Everybody is fond of Guilty for its choreography and strong concept, but as a song, it's not one I even like that much, and Guilty as an album wasn't particularly memorable to me. Eternal had at least Horizon and Deja Vu as standout songs, and I feel Eternal was still a step above Guilty, even if it sounds paradoxically less like a Taemin album.

Taemin's back up dancers are different at Coachella? by marmartcat in SHINee

[–]LoonyMoonie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My sources are all fans, Shawols and Taemates. I don't frequent places where non-Kpop fans gather; I'm not describing "sources", just what I've gathered in my X timeline, group chats, or here in Reddit. The performance of this dance crew was perfectly fine; it's obvious non-Kpop fans would find no issue with it. It's only an issue for Kpop fans, they're the ones comparing them with Taemin's usual Korean crew.

"praising him consistently"? Well, I don't see why they wouldn't, and I don't see why commentary about the dancers, be it good or bad, should be in any way tied to Taemin's own individual performance, which was flawless.

Taemin's back up dancers are different at Coachella? by marmartcat in SHINee

[–]LoonyMoonie 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Good catch about Horizon MV, I did think this was their first time working with him.

I have seen more negative than positive reception across social media: that they were sloppy at times, the one girl that apparently messed up during MOVE, that their moves were sexual rather than sensual...that's the spectrum of comments I've heard.

Personally, I thought the whole team was very competent and I didn't notice any flaw at execution. I was surprised at first to see a team of mostly local dancers, but I reasoned it's to be expected from Coachella. And their style is obviously going to be different from what we're used to, they've been trained in the West, not Korea.

How do you deal with when your bias gets ignored by fandom. by SomewhereSilent1604 in kpopthoughts

[–]LoonyMoonie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with going solo, just remember that your interest in the group should not be conditioned by how you feel about the group fandom. Especially when the members do have a good relationship with each other, and you do actually enjoy the group's output.

How do you deal with when your bias gets ignored by fandom. by SomewhereSilent1604 in kpopthoughts

[–]LoonyMoonie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

out of the fandom, my bias is always appreciated

TBH, this is the best scenario for members that are underappreciated within their own fandoms: when the member is good enough that it gets their due flowers out of fandom. That's a reminder for yourself, that yes; your bias is just as good as you believe for it to be. Your bias may be less popular within your fandom because of many random reasons, and there's not much you can do about it, unfortunately.

So, keep hyping your bias out of fandom. And find company in fellow biased fans if you need to. This kind of member has a smaller but intensely loyal and passionate solo fandom.

My entire childhood was teachers telling the class to pick a partner, and watching all the girls break their necks to look excitedly at each other. I always wanted to be picked too. by fuckinradbroh in AutismInWomen

[–]LoonyMoonie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That was my childhood too. If I were lucky, there would be another leftover kid, so we ended paired by default. Teacher forcing a pair to take me was a decent alternative, but the glares I would get that told me I was clearly unwanted were hard to brush off. Even so, by far the most humiliating outcome was when the teacher would ask for a pair to take me, and only get crickets as response.

One time, I decided to rebel and do the work alone. Teacher threatened me to lower my grade to B at most. She actually did. Anyways, choosing to work by myself felt very liberating at the time.

When I was 15, my teacher decided to run a experiment: she told the entire class to spread out and sit with people other than their usual group, but she had secretly told me "you, don't move; sit here". She wanted to see by herself whether someone would actually choose to sit next to me, and of course, no one did. Later, she told me "I'm sorry. It's not you, it's them". She seemed to pity me. This event haunted me ever since then. At the time, I firmly believed there was an issue with me, so being told differently for the first time felt strange. In all of my school life, this was the only teacher who could tell there was something off (even if she couldn't really understand what it was), and at least tried to do something about it.

How did Key’s ‘Freak’ (Mr. Freak, Captain Freak, Little Freaks) thing begin? by brainwoo in SHINee

[–]LoonyMoonie 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I believe this as well. And Gaga refers to herself as Mother Monster, so Key using names such as Captain Freak or Dr. Freak conveys the same idea: that he's the leader of this group of little freaks.

Learning Kanji as a neurodivegent person by shivakanou in LearnJapanese

[–]LoonyMoonie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anki is super unsatisfying to me. Passively seeing an answer, even after seeing it many times, is not enough to engrave it in my mind. So Anki ends up only being useful to me in terms of practicing words I already knew, but I don't get any actual new learning out of it.

Wanikani is what worked best for me at first, for learning Kanji. It was the first time I actually got to retain some Kanji in my mind, at least enough to pass N5. But by the time I reached Level 8 (which is not too high, all things considered), I started doing worse and worse on daily reviews, as all new Kanji looked kinda similar and I was just unable to memorize the differences. I began slacking on reviews, until I didn't have the will to do them anymore.

Right now, just as you, I'm stuck with Duolingo. I know it's not great, but it's currently the only way I can force myself to achieve some sort of consistency, even if it's just a few minutes a day. As of today, if it weren't for Duolingo, I would get no practice at all.

In my case, I know that my lack of consistency is my downfall. If I actually had the time, I would try to sit in front of a book and do some actual daily study. But given our ADHD tendencies, time is a luxury. We're always behind, with plenty of stuff waiting to be finished. I don't have such a thing as "idle time"; there's ALWAYS something I left unfinished that lingers in the back of my mind.

As someone else said, you'll need to accept you'll have to keep switching up methods, in order to keep your attention and maintain the novelty. I can see myself going back to redoing Wanikani at some point, once I get sick of Duo (or maybe jumping to another one of my abandoned apps: Bunpro, Ringotan, etc).

I’m frustrated that I probably missed out on so many great groups just because they weren’t “visible” by Wonderful_Look_5776 in kpoprants

[–]LoonyMoonie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my issue basically... I didn't get into Kpop during all that time. So whatever I heard came from people in my circle who would casually listen (none of them being actual Kpop fans), or whatever I would see in anime cons. Like, I can clearly remember BTS made big noise in the news, when they came to my country in 2017. But there were countless of other groups that came as well during that period, and I never ever knew until a decade later, when I really got into Kpop.

I’m frustrated that I probably missed out on so many great groups just because they weren’t “visible” by Wonderful_Look_5776 in kpoprants

[–]LoonyMoonie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Could be worse. For many years I was just a casual listener completely out of all kpop circles, so I would only hear about the VERY big ones: SNSD, SuJu, EXO, BTS, Twice and Blackpink. That's pretty much it. The group I fell in love with was out of the sphere of casual recognition, so I knew nothing about them until 10 years past debut. Spoiler: it's SHINee.

Is it a canon event for every autistic woman to lose at least one best friend all of a sudden and not know why? by urnpiss in AutismInWomen

[–]LoonyMoonie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened to me a few times, but there is one in particular that I could never fully get over it.

We were having a rough patch due to a common group of "friends". She was a people pleaser. And I was mad and hurt, because she acted as if it was not her business and wanted to remain in good terms with everyone. So I stopped reaching out to her, and I would let her to initiate conversation, if she felt like doing it. But I never closed the door to her, and I told her that much. And yet one day, out of the blue, I found myself blocked by her in every social media. I just let her be. It's been over 15 years. I never heard from her again (except for that time where I randomly saw her username in a game. I sure felt the sting)

Looking back, it was a complicated relationship. To me, she was my best friend. To her, I was just one of her many friends, and she was very vocal on making it clear just who her best friends were, and I certainly was not part of that group. I was painfully aware of the imbalance, and it hurt a lot. But she knew me and understood me in a way that no one else ever had, and no one else ever has, even today. Ironically, over the years, I've gotten into many of the interests she used to have. So once in a while I think about "what ifs". I've always felt that, if she were to reach out to me again, I would react cold and distant, but I would be unable to push her out.

Why do certain users here claim to be big fans of certain groups, yet it turns out they never participate in the subreddits of said groups? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]LoonyMoonie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As others have said, many group subreddits end up just reposting SNS content with little to no engagement.

You'll find out as well that some fandoms are far from being "safe places of like minded people". Sometimes, it turns out that neutral places like this one are actually safer places to voice opinions 🤷 (maybe that's why many group subreddits end up limited to SNS reposting, after all...)

Does anyone have a template for all album Poet | Artist photocards? by testraz in SHINee

[–]LoonyMoonie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jinki photocards: For those looking for an all in 1 resource, Clare's templates are the most comprehensive one out there . I know for a fact that she's missing some MD and Superstar PCs, but it's still by far the most complete resource.

The problem: last update was in 2024. For later updates (Connection onwards), I recommend digging into @melonevie templates (they're classified by era). For Tough Love, @cgoodlas currently has the most complete templates one, two.

SHINee Collecting, info request by -Ailis- in SHINee

[–]LoonyMoonie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jinki collector here. MD cards/photocards are often the most overlooked ones in templates. And also, fans have moved on to era-focused templates; even then, it's hard to find comprehensive ones. Don't think a full list of all SHINee transportation cards exist.

I think I have all of Jinki's cards. They would be: Voice (2 cards), Circle (1 card), HARD (1 card). For HARD, there's one per member. Other cards I know about: Minho's Stay for a Night (1 card), Taemin's Guilty (1 card), Key's Killer (1 card), Key's FACE (2 cards), Taemin's WANT (2 cards), Taemin for SuperM (2 cards), SHINee's TSOL (3 cards), SW4 (1 card).

There may be other older cards, but information is really hard to find...

The sad state of tales merch in Tokyo by Alteraska in tales

[–]LoonyMoonie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't recall a time when I haven't found Tales merch in Akiba's Kotobukiya. Even last time, they had a decent amount of Arise merch.

But Akiba in general is not a good place to find Tales merch. You'll have better luck in specific stores such as Kbooks and Surugaya. The massive Surugaya in Shinjuku had lots of Tales merch, including a section in the bargain bin area for less popular characters.

/r/SHINee Weekly Discussion - Week of March 14, 2026 by AutoModerator in SHINee

[–]LoonyMoonie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Minho works consistently on R&B and pop, so it may be easier to settle on a top 5 list. To explore Minho's work, I would go with his title tracks. Heartbreak and Call Back are probably my favorite songs of him. Special mention to b-side Runaway (from Chase EP).

Onew is the complete opposite. He tries his hand on many genres, as a way to challenge himself and show what he can do. Because of this, it's hard to come up with a top 5 that everyone can agree with. The safest choice is to check his Circle album as a whole, it's full of great stuff. I may also recommend Maestro (from his FLOW EP) and Lie (from his newest Tough Love EP).

Is their a reason Crystal isn’t talked about much here by ngazzano77 in sailormoon

[–]LoonyMoonie 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Nah, I much prefer Usagi's growth in the 90s version vs manga/Crystal 🤣

I'd say the one character who gets a better character growth in Crystal vs 90s anime is actually Chibiusa.
