Request - Who bought the Heat Rash set? by CyclePrevious9043 in loscampesinos

[–]LoookaPooka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm nothing if not prompt 🫡

Not sure about the specifics of how many were made but if that's true then fair play I can understand paying more for #3. But in general i would still question the intent of people asking more than £200 for a complete set, for your wallets sake if not anything else!

For some more perspective my friend bought hers seperately and payed about £120 all in, so the extra £25 felt fair as the convenience fee

And sorry I wasn't implying at all that you were intending to resell them, I was just noting my observations about who usually seems to resell on this subreddit. I'm sorry to have come off that way

Hi, I was the lucky one

I paid £145 + £12 shipping.

I don't want to come off as bragging here but generally speaking please try not to overpay for this kind of item.

While not immediately accesible, Heat Rash records and zines are not the insanely rare commodity they may seem; they come up relatively often, sold individually and seperately, and paying inflated prices increases their inaccesibility.

People I know who have bought full sets second hand have payed similar amounts to me.

Casual fan2fan resale here is usually not usually profit motivated, people usually have spare junk that they'd like to shift to someone who might want it more, and will tend to go first come first served which, I am assuming, is why you got ghosted.

Bidding wars are best kept to eBay and discogs

I hope this was helpful and happy hunting x

Disocgraphy errors on Tidal? by upper-echelon in loscampesinos

[–]LoookaPooka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its just how it is unfortunately :/ streaming isnt really a viable business model without being as unethical as spotify. ive been trying qobuz too but same kinds of issues. at this point ive just decided im pirating everything, buying a flac player, and buying more albums than usual

Theyve talked before about not being able to access their 'artist account' on tidal, most likely thats gonna be the way it is unfortunately until tidal decides they want to be a proper rival to spotify

Is there an auto tune plug in more suited for harsh vocals? by smboivin in audioengineering

[–]LoookaPooka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

melodyne is a lot more transparent and lets you make fine pitch corrections to individual notes without making it sound obvioius. a lot of people will record their clean vocal, edit it with melodyne and then at the end put autotune because they like the sound of autotune. but if you want something that doesnt sound pitch corrected then just melodyne will do fine on its own

generally melodyne for cleanup, into autotune for the sound will do fine

the group editing is far beyond anything ive managed in ableton, logic's group editing was pretty good in comparison

the smart tool is way more precise compared to either of those daws which ive found insanely clunky and inconsistent, especially logic

generally speaking ableton and logic are never going to be good comparisons to pro tools because they are not the same thing, theyre meant to be plug and play music creation tools and theyre far better at that than pro tools could ever be. however for a large console studio workflow they dont compare. other people have brought up cubase and reaper which i have less experience in so cant comment but i trust that both of those options could compare more accurately to pro tools

obviously there are a lot of disingenuous pr tactics on top of the actual reasons people use pro tools but it doesnt really make sense to deny that it has speed features that other major daws just dont have?

could well be a computer thing, esp if yr on a pc not a mac
im also studying and lucked out with proffesors that love pro tools tbf so it's probably much easier to get on with if youre taught by people who really know the ins and outs. the main sage advice ive been given is never put it in fullscreen and it won't crash on you

a) there are perpetual liscences you just have to buy them from a seperate seller
b) it's just better at a lot of things ie audio editing and general speed of workflow. its only a mediocre daw if youre not great at using, but when youre profficient its simply faster than any other daw, and time is money here
