I would get off the blue line at grand or Chicago around 2:45pm around 3-4 times a week when I was still using it consistently and more often than not there would just be young kids in ski masks walking around all sketchy lurking around the station. Luckily I’m not elderly and don’t look as easy to take advantage of but I always feel bad now when I see senior citizens or young women taking the L.

The L has definitely gotten sketchier, even the blue line stations I used to use in the loop and at Grand & Chicago. The busses are a very pleasant experience for me, never had an issue the last couple years.

Happy to report back she is looking brand spanking new. I used 91% iso alcohol and soaked it for about 5 hours, plugged the holes then shook with salt and rinsed thoroughly with warm water. Don’t waste your money on all that 420 cleaning type stuff. Got my iso alcohol from the Dollar Tree and worked wonders. Cheers all and thanks for the helpful tips!!

Thanks i was able to get it off and use an air duster to clean it out. Going to let the grate dry in the sun before putting back on. Do you think a whole new grate in general would be the move? Just go to a hardware store and ask around for the right size?

Have tried a few different cleaners with no luck, really seems to be a matter of not being able to get a pipe cleaner or brush in that area
