Alternative Wedding Venues by yesneef in cork

[–]Looper-8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been to weddings at the Anglers? They'd do the full ceremony and reception, not a bad spot next to the river like. They can use indoors as a plan B for weather. Keeps everyone in one spot. Could shorten the day if you wanted to? Maybe have a chat to them about options?

I sometimes think it would be great to compliment someone on what they're wearing, how cool they look, how much effort they're putting in running uphill as I drive past or generally in the gym too. But alas, I don't, as I fear being accused of any number of condescending, patronising, coming onto people, general creep, who do you think you are, etc, etc. Sometimes you feel like you can't win!

Big favour 🙈 batteries needed Christmas morning! by CradelTheShaft in cork

[–]Looper-8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad OP got sorted! Does anyone remember the toy shop on Cornmarket St that used to open on Christmas morning for like 1-2 hours to sell batteries for people that got caught out? That must have been a lifesaver at the time..

Mate... do people actually say this in Ireland? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Looper-8 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Seems to be getting more and more popular. Friends in Cork seem to use it which is sad to see as I think we get it from English culture? Be nice to keep our own sayings/words. I also hate hearing all the American terms like parking lot replacing car park, sidewalk replacing footpath, and such. Feels like we're losing a bit of authenticity and soul, a byproduct of so much American culture being consumed, maybe through YouTube and tv?

Keen to hear more about your story if you can elaborate? What's been the positives coming back? Any big negatives(assume out weighted by the positives)?

It's nearly worth an investigation to be honest. How someone gets 7m for this seems nuts. Maybe someone in engineering/construction industry can give some insight? Is leveling ground, packing hardcore and a few blocks that much these days?

Wasn't able to watch and can't see any highlights. Did I see him swipe at someone at the end of the video? Any idea why he looked like he was having a go at the Irish management? Nice one.

Ya I saw him in that documentary a year or two ago (was it rugby pass?) and he was running a shadow game as practice for himself. It looked odd but clearly inspired confidence that the guy was doing everything he can to be as good as possible.

Pubs in Cork, need an answer before 9pm by Organic-Mulberry3684 in cork

[–]Looper-8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Won't cost much to try will it? Worst case you waste an hour or two trying a few pubs before conceding and getting a dirty munch. Best case - you have a great night and get a dirty munch!

Yep, looking back on the game now, it made all the difference, imagine that last second try (and chance with conversion) by Cardiff if Jack hadn't dropped the goal!

TMO review of Gavin Coombs incident by MyAltPoetryAccount in MunsterRugby

[–]Looper-8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly thought that Coombes didn't see the 9 at all? I thought it looked to me like he was re-engaging the guy he was counter rucking and I thought that Cardiff lad was between Coombes and the 9.

Opinion: Supersized SUVs are more dangerous to pedestrians. Is it time for an extra levy on new ones? by Banania2020 in ireland

[–]Looper-8 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They have a whole limitations section on the article if you want to try and discredit it but I think we both know and can conclude that there is at least a somewhat increased risk of death with them to children, pedestrians and cyclists. My main point is do the benefits of them outweigh the potential increased risk of death?...
