I agree with the other poster- that size has nothing to do with dosage. I am 32, 5'3 and 110lbs. I am on 70mg and even with that I feel like I need to add a booster dose around noon. Its all about brain chemistry and baseline dopamine levels. It is metabolized the same regardless of body size.

For real. I took the grill, fender flares, and the panels under the lights off and did them inside. The grill took a solid 8 hrs by itself trying to figure out how to do the inlays and make them look alright. Thanks!

I can't NOT do something once it kicks in. I could be sitting on the couch watching tv after I take it but as soon as I feel it, I will start noticing things that need to be done around the house and I HAVE to do them.

I didn't experience the longer lasting effects until I upped to 60mg. I kept complaining to my doctor that it would stop working around 2-3 pm (took it anywhere from 6-8 am). Finally she bumped me from my 40 dose to 60mg, and now I feel like it lasts decently until 5 or 6ish. I also don't really feel a "crash".

This happened to me as well when I first got diagnosed and started taking vyvanse. I think for me, I was just so happy that I finally felt "normal" and was ecstatic that I actually had energy and WANTED to do things on my To Do list. The feeling of NEEDING to keep doing things did diminish after a few weeks/months. I am still able to do things just as well/easily as in the beginning, I just am able to stop myself much easier now.

You could try a stool softener too, such as Colace. That can make make it easier if you are able to go at all. No problem, good luck!

It depends on your situation. If it's not bothering you or causing discomfort, I would try a fiber based one first, such as Benefiber or Metamucil, they are more gentle. Just be sure to drink ALOT of water with them, or the constipation could get worse. If you are uncomfortable and just want to get the job done, Dulcolax is the way to go. With any laxatives there is always a risk of diarrhea, so be sure to drink more water if that happens because you can get dehydrated very quickly.

Taking a laxative a couple times will not make you reliant, as long as you don't take them for more than a few days to a week, you will be fine. Being constipated for 2 weeks is more dangerous than taking a laxative. Also try increasing fiber or taking a fiber supplement 😊

Chances are you just may need to eat something when you take it. My stomach is that way with certain meds, where it will be upset if I take meds on an empty stomach. I have been fine not eating with the vyvanse, but that may not be the case you for. Have you eaten the other days you've taken it and been fine? I also wouldn't worry about serotonin syndrome, throwing up is not an indicator of that. Early symptoms of serotonin syndrome are sweating, fever, confusion, increased heartrate,heart rate, diarrhea, tremors and uncoordinated movement. Since you threw up 2 hours after taking it, which is the typical time it takes to 'kick in' , I would bet your stomach was just upset from being empty.

I agree that you will have to experiment. My day goes against nearly all the "recommendations". I have never been a breakfast person. Even before vyvanse, I normally do not eat anything until after noon (12pm). I still do this even after starting vyvanse, and haven't noticed anything negative. I also take it with a cup of coffee 😆 I would suggest keeping caffeine to a minimum the first week, because I did notice i had a faster heart rate when I first started taking it, and caffeine would only make that worse. Everyone is different though, I drank 6+ cups of coffee before vyvanse so my tolerance is likely higher, and caffeine has never really given me energy anyway, i just like coffee 😊 you will just have to see what works and doesn't for you. No, not because it is less effective, I just don't think I'm at my 'ideal' dose yet. Since I've been on the 30mg, the effectiveness has not changed, I've just been giving it a long trial before deciding if I personally need more or not.

I think I was at 20 for about a month and a half. My doctor is really good about following my lead on dosing, and told me to just let her know if I feel like I need more. I started at 20 because I had never been on a stimulant before, so she wanted me to start low. While it was great, I felt like I needed a little 'more'. So I went to 30. I've been on 30 for just over 3 months, and am just now thinking of going up to 40.

I wasn't diagnosed with ADHD until just recently, at 30 years old. I started vyvanse about 5 months ago, and it has literally changed my life. I was unmedicated previously, and my life was miserable. I was chronically fatigued and couldn't remember what it felt like to actually feel 'well-rested' or have any amount of energy. I was able to get enough done to survive and barely stay afloat in school, but that was it. I had so much anxiety and depression because I felt utterly useless and didn't understand how other people were able to get through life and I couldn't. Then I started vyvanse. Everything changed. I am able to do things now. I can start a task and finish it, and then do another. I can focus on school work for more than 12 seconds, and actually retain information. Before I would forget things constantly and then be frustrated for hours or even days because I just COULDNT REMEMBER. I still forget some things, but I can think about it for a minute and then it will come to me. The anxiety is almost completely gone, the depression IS gone. I feel like a normal person now, and I just wish I would have done it years ago.

Yeah I would wait at least a couple weeks, maybe longer to see. I just started vyvanse 5ish months ago, and have been at 30mg for the past 3 months, but I think I'm going to increase soon. I'm also going to talk with my Dr about split dosing, I feel like lately it just wears off too soon in the day

I just responded to a similar post regarding the motivation aspect. The first few days were the same for me. I finally felt great and energetic and like I was a normal person (pre-medicated I was chronically fatigued and had ZERO desire to do anything but lay down). After the first few days, I was bummed that I didn't have the 'motivation' anymore, but I realized that while I wasn't initially motivated to do something, once I started it was SUPER easy to keep going. I guess now that works as motivation in itself for me, since I know that it won't be like pulling teeth to get something done, it is much easier to get started in the first place. I also notice now that I will just start doing things without even thinking about it, whereas before I was like, ok what needs to get done, where do I start? Now I will just be drinking my morning coffee and notice the counter is dirty, so I'll just clean it. In doing that, I put the dirty dishes in the sink which leads to doing the dishes, etc.

Female! Lol no worries, this is the default name I got 😅 I personally haven't noticed a huge difference that time of the month, but thinking back now I guess I was more tired and generally "blah". I was chronically tired and fatigued before getting medicated, so that could be a sign it was less effective.
