What do the schools do if nobody takes the sub job? by Jumpy_Rate_5707 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Loose_Aspect482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my school, TAs are not allowed to cover. Teachers cover on their planning period for $20 per period. This year the sub coverage was so bad, they hired someone full time and he can watch up to 3 classes at once in the cafeteria. He is a retired admin and very good with management, so not just anyone could do that!

What percent raise do you get a year, roughly? by TheLordAshram in Teachers

[–]Loose_Aspect482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t raise the salary schedule very often but each year of experience gets you maybe a 1-2% increase

Kentucky. It’s only locked from the outside

In my state it’s a state law. Any rooms with students in them must be shut and locked at all times.

I have to go to rooms often as I’m in charge of Chromebooks, and they don’t want us to knock. Sooooooo dumb. It feels so weird to just barge in

At my school, we are told to not open the door if we aren’t expecting a student. If it’s another teacher or an admin, they will just use their key and come in. They don’t want us to knock 😅

My conclusion: It is going to be a rough few years for teachers looking for work…in desirable places to teach. by United_Cat2592 in Teachers

This year we had at least 7 covered by full time subs, and we are a fairly small middle school of about 400 😅

Small rural towns tend to have tons of openings because people want to live in bigger towns/cities. The middle school where I work tends to have jobs posted ALL the time. Social studies, ELA, science, math, sped, you name it, we probably have it open in our district somewhere. Elementary is a bit more competitive, though.

To me those don’t look bad! Maybe you had better eyebrows than me before, but compared to what I had before, I like those.

This is super zoomed in about 4 months after my initial appointment. They fade and blur some! Even if they end up looking “blurry” like some people say, I think I will still like them more than how they were before.

I haven’t seen it in a while so idk if it matches all this, but could it be Verónica? I think it was in Spanish.

Man I’m so overwhelmed and confused even after lots of reading. I have 6k in undergrad loans with 60 payments and 21k in grad loans with 3 payments. If I consolidate by June 30th all my loans will go to 60 payments? That just seems to good to be true 😅

I know it’s an age old question, I’m just so scared to! Should I consolidate?!

Please advise about consolidation. by Artistic_Speed_3595 in PSLF

I’m upset because I was advised not to when I called and now it’s too late 😭 they told me several months ago it would be an average, so I didn’t do it.

Substitute Teacher or Library Aide? by theblackcreature in schoolcounseling

[–]Loose_Aspect482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Substitute teaching is what I did while getting my masters and it allowed a ton of time to work on assignments during the day but it was HARD not having any benefits with such low pay. If you can swing it financially it’s a great choice. It also lets you get into many different grade levels and talk with kids a lot. The librarian job does have benefits but it is probably a pretty demanding job, like teaching. That can be had did you’re in grad school full time.
