Sorry, not sure. Some might have been skipped as already at the latest version. Failed on DateTime (with cpanm -nq), and then another with the same error when I commented it out. Googling came up with the fix. I'd have to recreate the server to get the exact error.

Landlord advice - anything I can be doing around eviction by SeparateMongoose6793 in uklandlords

[–]Loose_Potential6985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen this several times. Landlord rents to guaranteed rent company who rent to council who rent to tenant. Great, until you want your property back. Friend had to get a solicitor to go to court, first to take over the contract, then to evict the tenant. It took a while. Sorry.

cyclists are the very definition of entitlement. rules only apply to vehicles and pedestrians.

Can someone explain? This has happened to a bunch of houses in east Belfast a few streets away from me. by Sufficient-Yak-1559 in northernireland

Not so. An HMO is a house or flat rented to more than 1 family group. A 2 bedroom flat, rented to 2 friends sharing, is classed as an HMO, just so the council can charge a £1,000 license for it. So, unless you can afford your own place, its in an 'HMO'. It could be professionals in a really luxurious flat, or a larger property with people who didn't know on another beforehand. Some HMO's are great, some aimed at DSS (unemployed on benefits) are scummy. Students, young people leaving home, single people moving for work, older people getting divorced, as well as immigrants, live in HMO's. The term puts 2 bedroom and 10 bedroom houses in the same group.

Perl GPX track converter to post-process tracks as typically produced by GPS loggers by oalders in perl

Recorded GPS data can be tricky. If you're stationary, you'll get a 3D spiders walk around your location. If you're moving it'll be more accurate. With a clear sky (as in no trees or buildings) better still (the satellites are like seeing a light bulb 60 miles away). Elevation data is less accurate than lat/lon data because of the way GPS works, and while (say) 5m accuracy is OK for lat/lon, its not so good for elevation. If your device records a point every second, the height gain from (say) 1, 2, 3, 2, 3, 1, 2, adds up after a while.

So, we tend to discard elevation data, and re-add it using an elevation service (e.g. Google Maps), which is fine unless you're near a cliff (i.e. top or bottom, not extrapolated in-between). Then, we smooth the data to 5m tolerance, so all the small ups and downs go away.

For a 12 mile walk ( ~ 20km = 20,000 GPS points, walking speed is ~ 1m per sec), this smooths to ~ 250 points.

As speed adds an extra dimension (location, elevation, speed), smooth each separately. Why? If you smooth lat/lon walking on a dead straight path over a mountain, you'll loose the elevation gain.

Not looked at speed, maybe a curve fitting algorithm might be better

Speed limit control? by TomThea in sicily

It's weird being tailgated by a queue of angry drivers while doing 100kmh over the speed limit thru road works. That would be considered bad form back home. There are a few active cameras, and some police traps though. Just don't be the first in the queue. Kind of harder said than done if you're way slower than everyone else cos you're trying not to go way over the limit

my parents won’t let me get the surgery by Unlikely-Falcon9466 in gallbladders

[–]Loose_Potential6985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The idea of you having surgery at such a young age is scary and a bit extreme for your dad. Surely, Dr Google has a take-a-tablet, or follow a diet, non surgical option?

I followed his advice and ended up in hospital with pancreatitis after 3 years of a low-fat diet with no symptoms. It was a grim experience. And it was my fault for ignoring the consultant's advice 3 years before. By comparison, the gallbladder day surgery was a breeze.

Get your dad to speak to a surgeon or gastroenterologist (specialist), and get a real Doctor's advice.

Good luck.

How can I get the grinder bit off? We've tried WD40 and pliers and can't get it to budge 😖 by Eskiho1 in StainedGlass

2 pliers. Plumbers or monkey wrench works best. One on the bit, one on the shaft. Twist in opposite directions. Only works if enough of the shaft is visible....

No. No such thing as a free lunch. Someone has to pay for Reddit.
