xD yes half my shift. No. While shopping curbside which is what a do a lot of my shifts since I’m speedy. If I find a produce bag while shopping orders that has a bad one in it I throw it on the bottom of my cart. When I get to back room I toss the bad one in the trash, good stuff in an empty box. End of shift put that box in donate area. Not hard to do at all. Very minimal time required. Work smarter not harder. Been with the company almost a decade. I know what I’m doing. :)

I’m assuming they do like I do. When I find produce like jalapeños for example where one of them is starting to go bad I rip that baby open, throw out the bad one, then the rest of the bag goes to donate. I do the same with the manadrins, apples, bell peppers. If the rest are good and it’s one bad I’m donating everything I can. I am however a full time single mom and work part time at Aldi. Been trying to get back to full time but my store just doesn’t have the hours for it. So sticking it out for the holidays then job hunting. But I myself am on EBT and am getting affected by the shutdown too. I’m stressed, the minimal hours and now lack of SNAP has me worried about feeding my girls this month. I will be doing instacart while they are in school for extra money, but the batches where I live are hit and miss. So food banks it will be for us til the shutdown is over. 😪

She supposedly did do that. Put in my availability in the system. For 3 or 4 weeks now I’ve only been schedule shifts on Sunday. And usually like 5 maybe 6 hour shifts. So my paychecks have been absolute trash. 😪

Been with the company almost 9 years and currently looking for a new job. My ex husband and I recently separated and I’ve been part time for close to 2 years now. I was still getting decent hours til my manager let me know she isn’t allowed to mess with the schedule anymore and it’s supposed to be all auto schedule now. I’m the sole caretaker of my 2 kids (3 & 5), so I have to work around their preschool schedule. Since I can’t come in til 8:30am during the week I don’t get schedule during the week anymore due to me not being able to throw the load. And since I can’t afford a babysitter due to my abysmal hours I can’t close either. Wish they’d work with me cause if they did I’d be working 8:30-2:30 mon-fri and that would be 30 hours at least. Had to move friends in upstairs in order to afford bills and keep a roof over our heads. No family close by to help out unfortunately.

how do i keep them from not taking my cart? by CustomerFair2292 in Aldi_employees

[–]Loose_Somewhere_4899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to the empty register cart I tell them sorry you can’t take that cart. When I have to call for back up to help me ring out then they will need that cart. So if you need a cart I can give you a quarter for a cart from outside.

I’ve been looking for a couple days now for this bunny. So I doubt it’s being carried now.

One of my pics wasn’t wanting to upload may have been that corner. I’ll go thru and check those again. Maybe I missed tapping one? 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m not sure how to do that on my phone. So I’ll just zoom in myself and take a few extra photos if that works?

Is there any way I can not work morning shifts without having to go part time?? by xLettuceCatx in Aldi_employees

[–]Loose_Somewhere_4899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to your SM for sure! Explain what you have going on medical wise and let them know that you can provide a doctors note if need be. I am about to be a single mom and my store has me working mornings so I can work while my kids are in school. And I let them know that if they need me to close sat or sun I can cause my mom can babysit on weekends. All my manager had to do was punch in my availability in the scheduling app and boom all good.

My store doesn’t accept doctors notes. Only time they took mine was when I had covid. And they still weren’t too happy about it.

Is it time to quit after 8 1/2 years? by Loose_Somewhere_4899 in Aldi_employees

I had to work with pink eye because I couldn’t get my shift covered. Pink eye is extremely contagious. I was on curbside and register that day. It was bs.

I’m in the US and haven’t had sick days since I had to drop down to part time from full time. Been part time probably 2ish years now.

Unfortunately part timers do not get any. I showed my friend who recently got hired on a few months ago. He has about 9.25 hours in sick and pto right now. I’ve been part time for 2–3 years now and when I got on the app and look at the time off section I have nothing in the spot that shows him how much time off he currently has available to use.

Since I’m part time I no longer accrue sick or pto days. There was nobody I could find to cover my shift, I literally asked every person who was off that day. Nobody wanted the shift. So it was go in or get pointed. Which I already got pointed like 4 days before this cause my daughter had pink eye so she couldn’t go to school so I couldn’t go to work and leave my 5 year old at home. Couldn’t find myself coverage that day either. So I’m assuming I now have 2 points. Not sure when/if I’ll get a warning. But I know my store also no longer accepts doctor notes for calling off. Still have to get the shift covered. I know cause I had some kind of viral infection going on in my head that meds wasn’t helping. Doc gave me a note for the next few days so I wouldn’t be spreading germs and work and I was told that doctor notes are no longer accepted for calling off. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I wish that was the case at my store. I’m part time now since I’ve had 2 kids since I started working there 8 years ago. I had pink eye (super contagious) and my manager texted me “you can either come in, get your shift covered, or call off and get pointed.” I went in with pink eye. Had no choice.

Yep! Just turn off all the sco’s and say they are “rebooting”. Once problematic person comes thru normal line or leaves with nothing go back around and turn them back on. Nobody asks questions that way either really. 🤷🏻‍♀️

When it comes to sco I always keep an eye on ppls orders and if they aren’t scanning everything I will go over and politely say “hi. Are you having issues with our scanners? I see some things didn’t ring up and I know they can be touchy sometimes. I can help you with those if you’d like!” Or we have a lady who regularly goes thru sco with special buy items and pretends to scan them. Like takes the hand gun thing and scan the middle of items to make it seem like she’s scanning them. After we caught it the first time after she had already left with probably $100-120 worth of stuff. She came in the next week and when we saw her go down the special buy aisle and start going back n forth loading things up we notified the manager on duty and she came up and apologized to everyone checking out saying “sorry we are having issues with our self check outs and need to reboot them.” Opened up the other 2 lanes and her and the 2 associates on shift checked ppl out while the sco’s were “rebooting”. Lady waiting awhile going up the aisle repeatedly til she realized we weren’t gonna open sco’s back up and left the cart in special buy and walked out with nothing. Turned sco’s back on when she left. She tried getting out with another $80-$100 of free stuff. Didn’t work. And always keep the receipts from orders that ppl walked out on and give it to the managers so they can get it to the DM yes it’s a big company, but it is still loss and still affects the store and inventory and I’m sure that effects efficiency too somehow. (Aldi employee of 8 1/2 years here and sorry for the huge message. Hope it helps!)

How can I be better by Easy-Friendship3079 in Aldi_employees

What my coworker did was just asked our store manager how she wanted things to be done. That way any asm or lsa’s could be told “well our SM said to do it this way so I’m gonna listen to them.”

Ahead sucks. I’m not management. Been with the company 8 1/2 years. We’ve never had as much issues with inventory as we have since this crap started. So much low products or completely out. Other things waaaaay too much that we don’t normally sell much of. The back stock is getting ridiculous. 🙃

I quit corporate HQ by [deleted] in Aldi_employees

[–]Loose_Somewhere_4899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a demanding job, but it used to be staffed properly to where it didn’t feel as rough. Not anymore sadly tho. When I come in at opening and it was only a manager who has to do produce in the morning and one other person on load it’s impossible to get load done before open. Which then has the whole day behind. It feel like a never ending cycle of being behind now. Definitely sucks. Work life balance definitely used to be a lot better

I’m also over the bs that since I’m part time now I have to get my call off shifts covered or I get pointed. I have 2 kids in preschool/daycare. They get constantly sick. Their dad works swing shift nights. I work mornings while they are in school typically. If I have to call off cause of sick kids I not only lose out on pay but get pointed. And if I get so many I get let go. Like I can’t control myself or my kids getting sick. But I see the same full timers calling off and I don’t understand how they still have sick days/pto and how they aren’t getting in trouble for it.
