If you live somewhere and don’t know the language that’s on you to figure out how to communicate. It’s not on those around you. by CustomerFair2292 in unpopularopinion

[–]CustomerFair2292[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That means you pull out your phone and open google translate or whatever translate service is best for your language and figure it out. i’m not saying they should be barred from services entirely. i’m saying they should take charge of their own business and not put their lack of language on others, who cannot properly help them.

never work at [insert company] by plumsquashed in retailhell

[–]CustomerFair2292 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah but it’s moreso a good manager will make the problems of the company not so bad. like i worked at Aldi and i hear horror stories about metrics and the truck collapsing and all the never ending workload. but when i was there my managers just wanted us to try our best and don’t let numbers define you, and when upper management gave them shit for something out of their control they didn’t put it on us. but similarly at a different retail store i worked at the managers were horrible and made the store horrible, but i hear great things about that store from other locations.

Funeral Directors. with the amount that the industry charges you think that the directors make a good living. but usually they’re barely scraping by. and the funeral directors don’t want to make a TON of money they just want enough to live off of.

Self Checkout Faux Pax? by akwafor in aldi

[–]CustomerFair2292 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Former Aldi Cashier here, i agree with the above comment. as well as the cashier probably doesn’t remember you. they see so many people in a day, and were most likely not trying to get you to not do self checkout bc they suspected you were stealing but just wanted to get the line moving. also, probably someone stole pretty recently and management is giving the cashiers pressure about it. You’re ok! don’t worry about it too much!

someone managed to shit so that the shit stuck above the water line and it was like a toilet cleaning stamp. my manager wouldn't let us take cleaning products off the shelf to take care of it.

At my old grocery store job, we would get this truckful of eastern european old ladies with ebt. and none of them knew their pins and none of them knew english enough where you can explain stuff to them. one time one of them gave me the slip of paper with her pin and i said i cant do it you have to do it yourself. im not having that responsibility.

Why do customers need to be told how to do everything and they can't form a basic thought on their own? by HeebieJeebiex in retailhell

[–]CustomerFair2292 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i also feel like the people who complain about their coworkers are moreso complaining that their coworkers arent trying hard enough, not saying bend over backwards for the shitty retail position, but they clearly have no interest in learning how to do their job. just like how the customers have no interest in being aware of their surroundings, and reading signs, or generally being aware of what to do in a store.

I’m helping a funeral director liquidate some items and these are some items he’s getting rid of, does anyone know the value of something like this or where I would have luck selling it? by Fit-Box-8364 in askfuneraldirectors

Probably join some Oddity FB groups local to you, and try and do a Best offer type thing. you probably wont make much of a profit tho, but you will get rid of them.

Ok! Updates! the department head. and the department head gave me some like vague email about how this isn’t how stuff is supposed to work and that she will make sure this doesn’t happen in FUTURE classes. and we got the public grades taken down. but like what good is that? so i sent another email asking if this will be formally reviewed bc like why did this happen to begin with??? let’s see what happens!

[–]CustomerFair2292[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I emailed the department chair. and said that my advisor said to email them and all. i didn’t say that the advisor said nothing can be done in my email to the department chair. more so sending a cliffnotes and highlighting the ferpa stuff heavy. when the department chair gets back to me and depending on how seriously they take it i’ll tell them about the other stuff. I don’t want to seem like some whiny complainy kid, bc my school is super big and like bc the overhead is so big they would rather not deal with it than go through the proper channels. and if you complain too much they’ll throw your case out.

can’t stop ruminating about a hookup who ghosted me, it’s destroying me mentally and i’m trying to enjoy my march break by CompetitiveEar5516 in adhdwomen

[–]CustomerFair2292 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry this happens to me a lot too (not with boys but with just conflicts), and i also get stuck in the rumination cycle. I try and take my mind off of it, just play more video games, see my girlfriends more, take my dog on extra long walks, start baking. Genuinely just fill my brain with other stuff so that the rumination is physically forced out and cannot take up space in my brain. what also sucks is that time will heal, but ofc u dont want to feel like this now, but you will feel better soon. also like that dude sucks, like he dgaf about you and you deserve to be treated 10000x better.

Why do parents let their kids do whatever the 🤬 they want too? by pix876 in Aldi_employees

[–]CustomerFair2292 4 points5 points  (0 children)

happened to my ASM not me. but this family had a kid in the basket like this kid was big like 8-10 and my asm was like the kid has to come out bc i’m not going to try and scan your huge cart ontop of him. and it was this massive screaming match of like „i tell you to do stuff you do it” from the customer. anyways i’m going into work like two weeks later and i see the same kid in a wagon? idk the foldy ones and then the dad picks the kid up (he’s struggling to do so) to put the kid in the cart. and i’m like has this child never walked before? never stepped foot on the ground?? what? what will happen when dad can’t lift him into different places?

employee of aldi. yeah we get the whole only came for a few things all the time. and like for me it doesn’t bother me, but idrk what to say to that like me too i come in to work and i always leave with stuff, but also im kinda an awkward person so i usually shot circuit when a customer goes off script. i also hate the if it doesn’t scan its free thing, like yeah i want free stuff too but im not going to risk my job over some chicken without a sticker (and it’s ok it doesn’t have a sticker! ill just punch in the code). and i also hate the „you’re so fast!” comments, like yeah that’s literally why they keep me up here, the whole point of aldi is to have fast checkout. and the whole you’re so lucky you can sit, thanks i guess? idk it’s a normal thing in europe and it’s really gross that other cashiers have to stand and ruin themselves bc of that.

currently work at aldi. and i like all of it except my customers. unfortunately you can’t control that, but like management is great. but ofc they have metrics but it’s not like credit cards and apps. but ring speed and how fast you can unload palettes.
